I've used both in the last year. Had to put an electric fence around my Mom's critters as a bear climbed over the fence and took out one of her alpacas.

Post hole digger didn't last long in the clay so we went out and rented a power auger.

I'd add a bow saw to that list. I grew up in a small house in MI and the fireplace was the primary heat source.
My brother and I had to hand cut 10 oak logs each day after school, keep the kindling bin full, and make sure the fire doesn't go out.

Bought to have another stint with the post hole digger replacing ~100’ of fence this spring

I've spent quality time with both.

I did when I was a kid. That's why I worked my way through college. That kind of work was not appealing to me.

You don't have a tractor with a post hole digger? Clam Shells are for replacing posts here and there along with your dipple bar!:seasix: (Dipple bar is a post hole tamper for you non hillbilly types) Oh, and fencing staples are pronounce "steeples"! :D

Down here in the Ozarks, if you're going to dig a hole, you're going to need one if these:

Not what I had envisioned, but okay!

We had ~700 ft of fencing installed to enclose our back yard when we moved here 2 yrs ago, & the worker guys used those manual clamshell digger things to dig all the holes. Big name busy fence company in our area; you'd think they'd spring for a gas auger.

IIRC, I used one of those things once in my life a long time ago; didn't much care for it.

:dunno: Looks like a digging bar to me :yesnod:

Clamshell digger makes you be aware of hand position really quick :D

The fencing pliers look too new. The ones we had needed a squirt of oil before each use.
