Thinking about a train trip in China
 

Basically, we would fly into Hong Kong. Spend 3 nights there. Bullet train to Beijing. 2 nights. Bullet train to Kathmandu. See Everest. Bullet train to some non descript small China town for a couple of days. Then train back to Beijing for the flight home.

My main goals, spend time in HK. See Everest. Not be a dweeb tourist and spend time in a small China town. With China devaluing the yuan, now is the time to book.

Should be a nice time! We took the Bullet from Shanghai to Beijing, took around 6 hours. Very comfortable, we were also in first class.

There is no bullet train to Kathmandu. It's a 40 hour ride to Lasha.

And always book a first class ticket on the trains.

Enjoy HK. One of the best cities in the world to visit.

Visit Shanghai and see where all our money went the last 30 years.

I don't think HK would be a good vacation destination just now... there's kinda a civil uprising going on over there at present.

Might want to get a phone just for the trip.

Have a great trip man! Something I'm looking forward to doing with Danielle in a few years when the youngest is a bit older.

Mrs. Simpleman did part of her MBA in Shanghai and we'd like to go back and I'm fortunate to have a pretty awesome business contact there.

Guy used to fly important government officials around and has helped us sell the market there the last 10 years. His daughter lived with my Mom for a year while she was shopping colleges.
