New Rear Spoiler Installed

I received my rear spoiler today from RPI Design and it fits perfectly and the color match is also spot on. Here are a few pictures of the prep and then the final projected completed.

I first set the spoiler in place and while my son held it there I put a few pieces of blue painters tape to mark the location.

We then removed the spoiler, and I first cleaned that area within the tape with a solution of 50% alcohol and 50% water. I did this about 5 times to make sure I had all of the wax off.

Next was to apply supplied bonding agent to the area that would have the double sided 3M tape. Once I had that dome, we placed the tape on the spoiler making sure that we kept in inside about 1/16 of an inch. As called for in the instructions, I cut the red protection material on the tape that would be in contact with the car at the lower center (at the fifth light) and peeled it back in both direction about 2 inches. We then placed the spoiler on the car making sure it was within the blue tape marks. I then peeled that red protective tape back one side at a time on the bottom. We then did the same on the top edge of the spoiler. Total time was just a little over an hour.

Here is the finished product.

I would also like to thank the young lady at RPI Designs for getting the instructions to me. They were not in the shipment, but one call and they were sent to me by e-mail. No more then 10 minutes after I call RPI I had the complete instructions.

That looks nice! I think that is my favorite style for a rear spoiler.

I always wince when I click on threads that talk about rear spoilers that turn out to be big gross wings.

Looks great!!!!!

That's really sharp, and seems like something a mechanical moron like myself could do...I would not have to touch my car with any actual tools...LOL

I know a lot of people sneer at spoilers, but I am a symmetrical type person. If I do something that makes the front end pop, like a hood, then something with the rear needs to be done. That is one of the only things that bothered me with my C4. I had a twin turbo hood on it, but I could not find the right spoiler for the rear.

After you do something to her front, take care of her rear.
Words to live by.

Sorry to spoil the party, but, when it comes to Vettes(and I've owned several), I prefer to keep them stock. However, if you want to go for the flash...I'd take a wing over a spoiler anyday! Sorry!!!

Your not spoiling my party at all. I too have owned several vette's starting back in '68 with a '66 big block (427/425) roadster. The way I look at it, I bought it, I pay the insurance, and up keep so I can do what I want to it. After all it is a 2001 not a mid-year classic or a C1. Besides this can be removed with nothing more than a hair dryer and fishing line.

PS hope you get your flat tire taken care of.

I didn't know you had a C4.
