Ordinary Coupe
I was heading to work and stopped at a store and noticed a Black Z06 cruise by while I was in the store. When I came out the black Z06 was parked maybe 20 feet way from my Vette and this guy was walking towards the store. I asked if the Z06 was his, he said yes and I pointed towards my Vette and said it was mine. We chatted for a minute or so and he asked me if my Vette was an ordinary coupe. I laughed and said if a supercharged coupe is considered ordinary then yes and we parted ways.
I have a Z06 widebody (back only) to cover my 345’s, LS3 emblems on the front fenders, Z06 reproduction wheels, painted red calipers, so I guess I am considered a poser by some Z06 guys. I would have bought a Z06 if they had automatic tranny (beer story to explain why). I don’t know this guy and don’t know what he really meant by the “ordinary coupe” remark, but this isn’t the first time I have had a Z06 guy make a comment like this to me. I have only been in a Vette for two years but I am seeing there is a big difference between a Corvette owner and Corvette enthusiast. Has any other “ordinary coupe” folks had comments from other Vette owners that seemed funny or strange? |
I'm just an ordinary Zo6 Owner!

I don't know if I am an ordinary coupe owner or an ordinary Zo6 poser. Either way I still love my Vette.

i am with you i have only had my vette for a year now and Corvette owners comes in these castes 1. hardcore (my toilet paper has a vette symbol on it.This is where that guy falls in for poser haters)
2. enthusiast (I love the way it handles/power/drives n i like owning one like i like my cheese sandwiches) 3. weird ( likes to paint their cars tangerine orange and drive around in their spider man underwear with a helmet on). I fit in with the enthusiasts that DRINK!!!!!!:willy: |
I don't think you have you have a ordinary coupe at all in fact I think you have a bit more hp than he does if he was stock.
BTW I want to here Automatic story sometime . |

What I gathered from this:
Z06 owner was relatively astute in terms of knowing factory offerings and their differences, yet basically naive of the aftermarket support the platform enjoys. This is where a good money race could have easily taken place, the fast guy in an "ordinary coupe" vs the ballah with the Z06. The results could change minds quicker than one can even type the words.... :D  |

I think you nailed it, it looks like a Zo6 from the rear and when he saw the front he must have been disappointed it was just a coupe. :D |

Jeff
No way in the world is your vette just an ordinary coupe...yikes, your machine is a beast. Being brand new to the Vette world and met a few owners, I think my groups fit as well... GROUP 1: I noticed there are those who want the vette for a status symbol (all tools in my opinion)...you ask them about their car, and they talk about the color or gas mileage...they have no clue about the true power of the beast, the mods available let alone how to care for the paint on their ride...someone asks them about their ride, and with an elitest attitude, they answer with how important they are, etc...these folks irrate the crap of me... GROUP 2: And then there are those that appreciate a true american hotrod with unlimited potential for fun (these folks are first/foremost beer drinkers, down to earth, can not stop thinking about the next mod, and willing give advice and guidance freely...they appreciate all makes/models of a "ride"... These same categories existed in the MOPAR world, and they definitely fit in the CTS-V world. On the other forums, the ones for my 09 CTS-V, the two categories are dominant, and owners fit perfectly into one or the other... Anyways, will close this post... Bottomline: The Greenman's machine is not ordinary... |
