Why I live where I do

Sunrise this morning, off the top deck. That's Mt. Hood poking out over the foothills.

That's pretty! I can smell oil wells in the morning.

That's where the bears are, right?

Only one. Maybe we're looking at them from the side rather than a top view?

I go to Portland a couple of times a year on business. Always look for Mt Hood out the airplane window. Couple of years ago I stayed over the weekend and drove up to see it. Cool place :seasix:

If I was standing on the roof with a wide angle lens, I could see Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood, and Mt. Jefferson.

Very nice view :seasix:

Just curious if you look at it much or don't notice it as much anymore?

I have a great view from my yard also, but as time has passed it has become so normal and routine, that I rarely take it in and appreciate it like I use to.

Now and then I comfort myself with the thought that many people pay lots of money just to vacation at a place like mine once a year..

We notice it all the time, but that might have to do with the fact that we're so close to a major metro area. If I walked two blocks to the top of our hill, we'd have a stunning view of downtown Portland. Looking off of our deck, it's hard to believe we're that close to town.

The downside of the view is the steep hill we have to drive up to get to it. In the winter, on the rare occasions we have snow or ice, it's a real headache.
