One think I think a lot of pundits have not touched on is that Hillary Clinton will not carry the union vote as most democrats have historically. Many union members are absolutely eating up Donald Trump's down to earth "every day man" speeches. Hillary Clinton sounds like a she's being condescending even when she praises some one. That's not going to play well

I live in a very conservative part of the country, and the amount of people that refuse to vote for Trump scares me.

I'm holding out hope that Gary Johnson polls well enough to get in the debates...if only to keep the other two honest.

OP, I think (and hope) you're wrong. Trump can think on his feet, unlike Hillary. And he's smarter than her. He no doubt may have trouble in the first debate, but not subsequent debates. Remember that he has a history of hiring people who definitely know what they're doing; he seeks the most qualfied, even if they were once adversaries. Check his website on his position papers; they're logical and clear.

Trump will have calmed down by debate time; that's what his advisors have already told him, and he will be more Presidential. And as vetteman9368 says, he will fare well by simply saying, "How do we know you (Hillary) aren't lying?". Her untrustworthiness rating is near 60%. And think of the things Trump could bring up: Whitewater, Travelgate, Vince Foster, the Rose law firm, Troopergate, Ken Starr, Benghazi, Emailgate, and on and on.

Finally, Bernie Sanders has quit the Democrat Party, and his supporters are quite pissed about the DNC for treating him the way it did. Many of them will not vote for Hillary. And any vote for anyone other than Hillary takes away her chance of election.

Well they screwed up his wifes speech .....not the cream of the crop there.

The way that I see it, the debates are completely pointless with regards to hillary. The people who are going to vote for her already know that they are going to vote for her. If you don't already know exactly who and what she is by now, nothing is going to change it.

The ONLY thing that matters is how many people Trump can convince to vote for him.

Trump must be calm, at all times, during the debates. It appears he's already moved in that direction. He must also stay on subject and not be drawn off. Stay in control of the dialog.

I do have to respectfully disagree with your assessment that she is a great orator. There is nothing great about her shrill voice and her cadence sucks. She is painful to listen to and that would be true no matter what her message is. What is special is how the news hacks can always find a way to lay down the bullshit about how great her speeches are.

She could just barely hold her own against a socialist crank who had the flag of the USSR hanging in his mayor's office during the 80's. Trump had to debate and win against a field of 16 politicians, several of which would have done very well against Hillary in a debate. And Trump will go there. Unlike Milquetoast Romney. Bring up foreign policy? He wins. Bring up domestic policy? He wins. Bring up national security? He wins. Bring up trade? He wins. Bring up having a vagina? Hillary may win that one.

I guess it would work with people who think Trump wants to ban Muslims from coming to the USA, that think he committed treason by sarcastically asking Russia to turn over the 33,000 emails Hillary deleted, and who thinks he called Mexicans rapists and murderers. But with normal, non-stupid people, probably not.

He's certainly provided her with some rope...but I was thinking more about screwing investors and contractors out of their money, the line to sue him is ten miles long.
