Clutch time! Which one?
I'm going in!
Clutch slave cylinder has been leaking on my '01, so I plan to fix that, and with 87k miles on the original clutch, it makes no sense to not change it. All I want/need is OEM performance. What are the best options out there? And it looks like the GM service clutch comes as a flywheel, plate, and disc... is that normal of aftermarket ones, too? Thx! |
If you are happy with the service you got from the original clutch (LS-1?),replace with the same. You might consider upgrading to the LS-6 clutch. May cost a few more dollars as I think the LS-6 requires a new master cylinder and a slave. I think the 02-04 cars are fitted with these parts and require no change.

I ran an LS7 clutch with an aluminum flywheel in my 346 build. Great clutch. You can use a stock LS2 flywheel for the LS7 disk and pressure plate. Whichever you go with, replace the slave cylinder and pilot bearing while you're in there. Be sure to add a remote bleeder. It could save you a lot of heartburn later.
Another thing to consider since they will have the drivetrain dropped is to replace the torque tube bushings. Now is the time to do it. |
