A group tried the same thing in Illinois a couple of years ago. They wanted the State Police to release the names and addresses of anyone holding a FOID (Firearms Owner ID) card. These are necessary to buy, possess or transport any firearm or ammunition if you are a resident of IL.

The ISP basically told them to forget it since it would only provide a roadmap for criminals.

BTW - Ohio CCW permits are issued by the sheriff of the county you reside in (88 counties in Ohio) and the permit list IS a public record.
