I hate ants
 

little sugar ants.

all over the kitchen, in the pantry, invading to dog food bag. must have killed several hundred so far. 409 is a pretty good ant killer it turns out, and it cleans things up nicely too.

and my gate opener is dead, replacement on the way next week.

i don't want to ask "what else can go wrong"

I heard peppermint oil will keep them out.

Clorox® bleach wipes works too...they avoid bleach residue.
Using old spray bottle; mix bleach and water...spray in cracks and crevices where you can.

Liquid Terro works great - they'll swarm around it for a couple of days as they eat it and take it back to their nest, then POOF - no more ants.

It does. We had a major piss ant problem when we bought this house 11 years ago. Healthy dose of that shit around the foundation and we haven't had them since. :yesnod:

Back room here in BUG CENTRAL, FLORIDA.....we have ants, uncles, cousins and GATORS.......but I sprinkled BORAX green powder all around outside, window tracks, sills, baseboards, cabinets....don't take much though.....

even the GATORS ran.......

We hired a service about 2 years ago when everything we tried only slowed them down. 200.00 a year and no problems.

your ants could very well be in the contact points in your gate opener and would save you a bunch of money if it is so.

Agreed, we have used this for flea/insect control at the dog rescue for years. Destroys their exoskeleton and they die. Works great and safe even for human consumption.

Have also used it in homes we have flipped that had roach issues. Works like a charm, just don't inhale the dust, can get in lungs and cause silicosis.

At our previous house we started using Amdro when we first had an ant issue. Sprinkled it around the foundation perimeter; worked well.
