Water Pump How to
The water pump on my '04 Z needs replacing and I'd like to replace it...in fact, I'm willing to give it a try (with some help). I've heard it's fairly "easy" to do, but I'd like to see some directions/instructions on how it's done. Does anybody have a link or the instructions (hopefully, with pictures) for a "how to"?

It is a pretty easy task (compared to other cars).
Junkman hit us with a terrific pictorial how-to a while back... https://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/c...r-pump-c5.html  |
Thanks! That does look, indeed, do-able!

Not a hard project if Junk can do it.
Actually, most repairs on the C5 are very doable with a little knowledge, and some mechanical aptitude. It's a very easy car to work on compared to a lot of models. |

I am no mechanic so if I can do it, so can your wife! :D |

Beth, Brian is sleeping right now but if you need his help, I'm almost sure he'd be happy to assist.

Thanks so much for the offer...any offer I get to learn more about wrenching on my car is always appreciated. But as it turns out, it was a much bigger problem than the water pump. Torch Red Tim and I changed out the water pump, the tensioners, the belts, etc. but the chirp persisted. I took it to one of the shops in Dallas and when they pulled the oil filter, there was lots and lots of metal shavings and metal parts of at least two different colors. It was all sparkly. I usually love sparkly, but not in this case. The heads, pistons, cam, etc, were all clean...no metal from there. Final diagnosis was that the main engine bearings had broken. :( Sooo, two choices were presented to me. Rebuild or new engine. Well, my thinking was that if ya gotta fix it, go big, and besides, it was the holidays, so, Merry Christmas to me! I put a crate LS3 with a 227/239 cam in it. I freakin' LOVE it!!! I now have the car I've dreamed of having since I was a kid :drivingskid: Here are the results: http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...ynoSheet-1.jpg No, you can't have enough horsepower and it can NEVER be loud enough! So much for my quiet little school marm image!:o_o: |

I had to replace my A/C Compressor last summer and had to take the waterpump off not to bad I would put in a new thermostat while you have it off .
