Tough week for me & Dixie
 

Most of you we are friends with on Facebook already, so you know....

Today we are celebrating Dora's 14th Birthday. A day I wasn't so sure we would see. I've been fighting back the tears since Wednesday, as today is her last day with us before crossing over the bridge. A bad heart and a ruptured eye has us facing the situation we have prayed we wouldn't have to ever deal with.

But for today, my baby girl that I've shared my life with since I was 17, will enjoy all the things she loves the most - bacon, vanilla ice cream, and nilla wafers.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl - mama loves you more than anything in this world, and I will miss you so much.......

Very sorry to hear that. That is a long time to have a doggie, that is how long I have had mine. I have been going through the same thing with him and it is a very tough decision to make.

Jo, as hard as it is, you know you are doing the right thing for her. I had to do the same thing a few years back (one of the hardest things i ever did). She was 14, and our girls had grown up with her. But i felt better just knowing she wasn't suffering anymore. I didn't want that for her, when i was the one that could make the decision for her to stop hurting. I never thought i wanted another one, but my girls got me one from the shelter that following Christmas. I'm so glad they did. She's the most loving big goof i've ever seen. You'll need a while likely (like i did) but i wouldn't have it any other way now.

I'm VERY sorry. Some of the happiest day's of my life have been because of dogs, and some of the saddest because of dogs.

You gave Dora a wonderful life from the looks of these pictures. I know you're sad now, but be proud. I bet she is.

Sorry for you guys, it's something how much they add to our lives, sure hurts when they go.

:cry::cry: So sad.........:sadangel:....That's the toughest thing to do...Saying goodbye to the little guys...It never gets easier, and I cry like a baby when we gotta do it... You'll get through......
