Nice ride! :seasix:

Bought my wife an S class (not AMG) and for 12 years of service it was great car, but then little things needed attention. What most would think
'little things" turned into $$$. it started getting stupid so we sold it. I still miss that car! :yesnod:

I hate you. I should have kept my SL. It's the one car I regret selling.

My ex 525i was a riot in snow. It wasn't an AMG of course, but still a blast.:drivingskid:

So far reviews (JD Power, Edmunds et al) have been fairly good compared with other cars in its class.

The power train is rock solid but the issues seem to stem from electrical gremlins. I was going to go the extended warranty route but the numbers don't really justify the anticipated costs; buuuuuut we'll see.

That's exactly what I hear from the message boards and other owners as well.
Plan to keep this for ~2 years and trade up if the right deal comes along.

Big appeal for me was being a 1 owner car and they were an older couple (did some side research)

He bought the car from the MB dealer I bought it from, was always serviced there, and he traded it for a newer version of the same thing.

Bought a little '03 C32 AMG a few months ago to play around with and it reminded me how much fun the German stuff is to drive.
Sold that (for a profit) and started looking for the current one.

As you know, prices on these things drop in half after 4-5 yrs from new.
AWD in cars is usally better than our F150 and Expedition in the snow as well.

Lil C32 was fun too

Should have got it.

My S6's intake manifold was leaking and I didn't have to pay the $7600 bill.

Brag, not at all, I'm stoked like a kid on show 'n tell day in 1st grade.
This thing is stupid fun to drive. 5.5l V8 with 2 hair dryers? Yes please.

I'm used to fast toys but I'm not used to being able to keep my foot in it under heavy acceleration. I'm used to feathering off the throttle shorty after the "punch" or I'm going sideways in a hurry.

MB rated this one as being 577 BHP but independent dynos by Road and Track, Renntech and 1 other company (forget the name) all got ~550 WHP:dance:

My next door neighbor just sold his. Thing was a blast to drive; quiet, stable, and quick.

Herein lies the quandary... I've been comparing anticipated costs vs warranty costs. Warranties I'm seeing have all sorts of loop holes on what is actually covered and most, that are halfway decent, are in excess of $2k a year.

When compared to service records, reviews, and guys that actually beat these things at the track, they are damn good except for electrical gremlins.

I still have 3 weeks to make a decision and it's on my mind every one of those days.
But, I'm selling in 2 years, do I anticipate $4k worth of problems + my deductible AND hope they cover the problem? :waiting:
