Birthday Scotch comparison...

21 Year Macallan
Love it, finished the last dram of it tonight. Very smooth and tasty.

25 year Macallan
Effing REALLY love it. The bouquet is much stronger, and it's even more smooth, and has a better flavor. Very rich.

Glenmorangie Signet
Not as strong of a bouquet as the 25, and has a similar taste to the 21. Not quite as smooth, but at 12% of the price of the 25, it's REALLY good scotch. Scott says this is his favorite.

The 25 will last me a LONG time, but I look forward to sharing it with special visitors. You don't drink $100/shot scotch, you share it for special occasions. Based on price, is it 3x better than the 21? No. BUT, it is still WAY better. If it were $1,000-1,200, I'd probably buy it more frequently. Having said that, I'm going to enjoy Scott's bottle for quite some time to come, and I do believe I might splurge and get another Mac 21. At $650/bottle, I can be a little more silly with the consumption.

If I were to rank them...

25 Mac is 1st
21 Mac and Glenmorangie Signet are tied for 2nd. Too close to call. Kinda like a Corvette vs. everyone else in the past, if based on price alone, Glenmorangie Signet wins easily. :datawiz:

I'm having a 2nd glass of Scott's scotch. The flavor is REALLY good. In fact, it's better than the 21. :yesnod:

Still telling you to try Yamazaki 18YO. Put that against the Mac 21 YO

I have not had either of those Macallans, but I have bought countless bottles of the Glen Morangie Signet.

I always have a bottle of Signet plus two other 18 year or older scotches in my bar. And your right, I save those for special occasions (for the most part). :cert:

Probably not. The spirits being discussed here are quite rare and expensive, They are to be poured on special occasions, shared with family or the closest of friends and enjoyed a dram at a time with clear palates. They are complex and singular in character. Drunkenness would only follow if the drinker switched to a lesser spirit after fully enjoying the rare dram.

These are 1 or 2 dram scotches for sure.
Scott

Always fun to try new batches. So many different flavors out there and levels of "bite"
Sometimes a little snap can bring out other flavors. I've had some great whiskys that had more bite than I prefer but the taste was outstanding.

I'm not a baller so I'll be trying MD 20/20 "Peaches and Cream" vs "Banana Red" on my birthday. I'll report back...assuming I survive.

Shit a bottle of scotch can make one monitor look like 16...problem solved and no driver issues.

I'm still most fond of my Aberlour A’bunadh. Not nearly as expensive, but damn fine Scotch, especially with just a drop or 2 of spring water.

Interesting. For me, it had the reverse effect. No memory at all.

Last time I drank MD, I was on a road trip with a buddy and two girls we knew. We got trashed and I was drinking/chugging that poison straight from the bottle. I literally crawled on my hands and knees up the stairs to the hotel room and passed out almost in bed. My buddy and the two girls snuck in to the hotel pool and were skinny dipping. I was PISSED that I missed out on the fun. The ride home from San Antonio to Houston was agonizing. I'd rather have COVID than repeat that hangover.

Correct.

Other than the 2nd dram of Scott's gift, the amount poured from the 25 was on the small side. I did have plenty of Heineken. :datawiz: After all, I'm a beer drinker, who is now an appreciator of exceptional Scotch....all Scott's fault.

I don't think I got drunk, as I was up, ready for work at 3:15 am this morning.

I have expensive hobbies and can make a shit ton of money if I work my ass off. :yesnod:

Enjoying a dram or two of Scott's Glenmorangie Signet. Extremely good flavor, but more bite than my preference. It's all good, as flavors come with pluses and minuses.

Gonna have a 3rd dram. :datawiz: Flavor is awesome!
