Many kidney stones for me. First was 2001 at 40. Second was two weeks later. Good til 2011. Had five attacks from Feb til May. Then in May 2014 had one that was 7mm. Could not pass that. Had a Lithotripsy procedure instead of a retrieval. That's where they break it up.
If I have to get another procedure I will let them go in and retrieve it. Took nine days to pass the pieces. NINE. Nine long, very painful days. Avoided the retrieval because, well, I knew where they would be going in...

I've had a few that I passed with extreme pain.
My brother had one so large they had to do surgery. Open up the kidney, blast it, then remove the pieces. The pieces would almost fill a small medicine bottle!
Kidney stones is when pain turns professional.
