I can't see paying that kind of money for something that will give me lung cancer and cause my teeth to fall out.

That said, I have enjoyed cigars that cost more than $13 each. However, I haven't had a cigar in a few years.

That is why cig smuggling is a very big business. Bad news if you get caught as the powers that be frown very heavily on that.

[quote from snowflake socialist liberal] This is targeted towards the poor; their rights are being violated. We should subsidize this for the poor (of course... by using other peoples money; you don't think I'll offer any of my own cash do ya????). Not only will they have cigarettes then like the rich white racist-bigoted-homophobes... but they will know to vote for our candidates - multiple times - during the next election cycle.[...quote]

I quit around 36 years ago....in NYC I would buy a carton (10 packs) for $5.00......and there was a store on 40th street that would sell packs of Camel Lights buy one get one free !
Still stupid to do at any price but I was smoking 3 sometimes 4 packs a day.....glad I was finally able to kick that addiction. :seasix:

86RAG 06-01-2018 4:35pm

Best thing I ever did was giving them up. Been 11 years now :yesnod:

Sea Six 06-01-2018 5:29pm

10 for me.

Bill 06-01-2018 5:38pm

I question those prices. I don't smoke, but I buy enough gas to know that cigs in Texas go for $ 5-something a pack, not the $ 7-something quoted.

MrPeabody 06-01-2018 5:43pm

I bailed at $3 a pack.:yesnod:

mrvette 06-01-2018 5:56pm

I quit smoking in the mid 60's.....could not pay for gas/tires/oil/repairs/payments/beer/dates and SMOKES TOO!!! no dates without the car, on a date it was get laid back and well.....and smokes did not contribute to THAT at all.....so.......a 2.5 pack/day Camel turds habit went......

They were .50-.65 a pack when I quit in 1982. Cartons were $5 for "name brands"

I was smoking two packs of KOOLS a day. I realized it wasn't doing me any good and quit cold turkey. It was tough but I was determined to do it. :yesnod:

I remember when I turned 21 I could get a pack of smokes and a 6 pack of Milwaukee's Beast for like $3.50. :Jeff '79:

Must have been in the mid-80s.

My cheap-ass neighbor drank the "Beast" because it was cheap.

Also, what is really stupid is where a governmental agency relying on an ridiculous sin taxe for funding. Pathetic.

The highest is all blue states. I see a trend of stupidity.
