I figure if they do launch, we are toast. We are less than 30 miles from the
Navy ‘s east coast Trident submarine base at King’s Bay GA.
The base is just below and to the left of the Cumberland River caption.

I remember the days of "atomic" drills, people building fallout shelters, etc.

At my age, if the big flash happens in the sky, I'm going out in the yard to embrace the warmth. It's a dry heat, after all.

Been near 18 year, me and some buddy's went out the St.Marys river out to the marker about 50 miles off shore....I have a old drill head my diver friends gave me....from that marker site....

Used to see the subs going in the river and turning north as we went into the river boat basin......it was NEAT seeing them on the 'surface'......

My BIL was a career submariner who’s last posting was base XO at Kings Bay
I have been on that base in places that civilians normally don’t go (but cleared to go with him). I have also been on board multiple subs over the years.

Toured USS Oklahoma City with my son's boy scouts troop we drove to Norfolk...this was pushing 25 years ago by now....:seasix:
