Automobile wax...

I know everyone has his/her favorite car wax, but I've used the same brand of wax my entire adult life: Kit. It's now sold under the name Formula 1. It contains the hardest natural wax know to man, Carnauba. Carnauba is produced by a palm tree in Brazil to coat its leaves and shield them from the intense tropical sun. It sheds water and it's clear. The wax is harvested every year and graded according to its color, where it was grown, and its purity. The highest grade wax is put into car wax.

Formula 1 has micropolishers in it that remove minor scratches and haze, bringing out the true, rich color. It also has solvents in it to wipe off road tar and bugs. How good is it? I'm just now in the process of waxing my Red Mica Metallic Jaguar XK. The car was last waxed in 2010, still beads water, and has no haze. It even removed the discoloration on my plastic headlight covers. And it's very easy to use.

What is your favorite wax? [I have no financial interest in Formula 1 wax.]

Duragloss 105, easy to apply and wipe off with no smell or powder and it's durable. Cost is good and reasonable.:seasix: I like their whole product line.

Recently it was nice of Mother's to give me a free 4 oz sample of California Gold Synthetic at a car show (Syracuse Nationals). I heard it looks great on a black car which I had and wanted to try it. It had all the good traits of the Duragloss and maybe exceeded them.:) It's weakness is durability, unless you like to wax monthly.:confused5:

I've used about all the waxes listed here so far and they have all looked good, some lasting longer than others. My favorite for years was Mother's carnauba paste wax with no cleaners. Last fall I used Collinite Marine Fleetwax paste on my daily beater to see if what they say is true about its durability and bigger than shit it is. I drove it almost everyday through rain, snow and all the salts they put on the roads here in Michigan and it has lasted through it all and still looks and feels like it was just applied. I have never had a wax last as well.

The thing that makes the biggest difference with waxes is how well the surface is prepped before it is applied.

Zaino now. Used NXT for a long time. Prior to that, Meguires Yellow carnuba.

Carnuba on a black car during a Texas summer has a half life of about a week.

Anyone know where I can get a Tibetan lamb glove to prevent finger prints when I close the door?

(Bonus points if anyone knows the reference)
