100 TB in a single chassis...almost

Just replaced 3 10 TB drives with 3 new 22 TB drives, and as you can see they are empty. Need to copy the contents of the 3 old drives to the 3 new drives, and then I'm giving 2 of them away to one of my race club members. That will total 30 TB I've given him. :datawiz:

Total capacity in the tower is 98 TB. Gonna order another M.2 chip drive NVME with another 4 TB to use as a fast backup for the virtual machines. Then, I'll officially have 102 TB in a single machine. For a geek like me, that's pretty impressive. And, yeah, I don't store pron on my computer. :willy:

Swapping out drives annually for new, larger drives, is the only way I see that I can manage this volume of data.

Gee, I feel like a piker with only 16 TB in my NAS

Copying drive 1 of 3 is estimating 6.5 hours on the blue USB-2. :willy: Big data problems.

What brand and type NVMe M.2 do you use?

I'm at 170tb's Raw and 180tb's Raw of external backup drives.
Full capacity and as you only way to upgrade is with larger drives.
Too pricey for me as I would rather have money to buy food.

Currently at 110TB and would like to move to a rackmount chassis solution. Been trying to get my data better organized to see what I really need. Sifting/sorting/shifting data has been tedious.

I find it relaxing.
Was moving things around a few weeks ago.
Always learning and finding new tools to help with the job like WinDirStat which has been invaluable to show me folder sizes that windows doesn't show.

i love that program. We mostly have to use it to search through devices at work when people end up on the naughty list.

I knew that joke would land but in all seriousness...

Ive had a security systems with 150-200 cameras and an NVR that only had 30TB of storage. HD video lasted more than a month before it rolled over....

5800 movies all in 4k or Blu-ray (1:1) quality, 250 tv shows a mix of old and new that get updated a day after they come out. One 4k movie can be anywhere from 50gb's-200gb's. They average around 80gb's each.

No need for streaming or tv services. Although I do have the basic $25 package to watch live hockey.

I think you are confusing GB with TB.

Just installed the Mac version - GrandPerspective and have it scanning one of my storage drives now :seasix:

Ordered some data center drives to play around with in a new server build.
The SATA SSD arrived yesterday, still waiting for the M.2. Thinking about getting away from platters in some of my storage.
