What's the coolest car that one of your family members has owned? (NOT your cars)
What would it be?

87 Mustang Notchback, 9.6 second consistent bracket racer -- ALL motor, 351, MANUAL transmission. :seasix:

That was about 15 years ago.

My older brother's 1978 450 SL hardtop convertible. He shipped it stateside nearly a year before he ended his five-year Army deployment to Germany and my younger sibling and I had a lot of fun with it. It was amazing how a car that weighed more than a Lincoln Town Car could embarrass stock Mustang GT's with a larger, 5-liter V-8. That car ran like a raped ape! |
my sister had a new 65 GTO then a new 68 charger R/T she bought at Mr Norms Grand Spalding Dodge . I drove the Charger all the time .
my cousin had a 56 t-bird 59 for retractable hard top ,61 421 pontiac Ventura . she and my sister were real gear heads |
Mom had a new 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible in 67
It was fun to ride in with the top down.. |
Also a cousin had a 69 Orange Judge... he crashed and totaled it with no insurance and still had to make the payments..

My brother buys & sells quite a few cars. He's had some great cars over the years (Hemi Cuda shaker hood, Porsche Speedster, Shelby GT350, 1962 Big Brake Corvette, etc.).
My favorite was his AC Autokraft Cobra MkIV. Autokraft bought the rights to the name and the original AC Cobra dies for making the aluminum body, allowing them to make a version of the Cobra that stayed true to original -- it *was* the original. Eventually Autokraft produced 480 Cobras, at which time the 'real' AC Cobra finally was laid to rest. My brother's had a 351 small block with Holman-Moody modifications. Great car and fun to drive! http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...4.jpg~original http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...2.jpg~original http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...1.jpg~original http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...2.jpg~original http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...6.jpg~original http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...1.jpg~original http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...8.jpg~original |
all three of older brothers owned Corvettes.
First one to buy; a new 1968... http://www.tim-yvonne.com/mikemercur...david-1968.jpg |
my younger brother still has his 1967 camaro...
we just got it running this last december. full roller 468, keisler TKo600 5spd, 12 bolt with 4.10's, etc... awesome car. too bad hes such a tool i wont talk to him unless its absolutely neccessary. (think spoiled bratty rich kid, that NEVER got a spanking and grew up in the 'child protective services' fiasco era) oh well, it is what it is. |
My dad's 64 corvette. He bought it in 1980 and it still has less than 75kmi on it.

I'm the only one in the family that has gotten "cool" cars.:leaving:
|
My Mom before I was born had a new '57 Bel Air vert. I have some pictures of it, but it was gone before I showed up.:sadangel:

My father owned a '66 Chevy II SS, L79 4-speed. Said it was a faster than any of the big-block Chevelles and such he went through in the sixties. He got sick at work once, and his car pool guy had to drive it home one rainy afternoon. Apparently it was enough of a handful he told my father.... "we'll spend the night here before I'll drive that damn thing in the rain again!" Scared the shit out of him.
Mom wouldn't drive it either, so he traded it in on a '67 396 Chevelle I only remember it from pictures, but it was Artesian Turquois over Ermine White with the turquois interior. This combo, but on a Nova (use your imagination)... http://chevellestuff.net/1966/chevelle/gallery/ck.jpg |
I was the car guy in my family, but my brother did have a 69 GTO for a few years, that was nice.
|
My Father won a 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible in a card game in 1945.
|
My brother had a 69 Camaro RS/SS 350 automatic convertible for a short period and the a 66 Dodge Coronet 273/automatic.
My Dad had an 89 Buick Reatta that I ended up buying from him, loved that car. |

Autokraft therefore had to refer to their cars as the "AC Mark IV". The cars were also not "true to the original", as the Autokraft Mark IV's had different engines, transmissions and independent rear suspension. |
My dad had a 57 Chevy with a small block 2 tome blue, a 60 Chevy convertible red with white interior. Brother had a 70 GTO Judge and other brother had a 69SS 396 Nova.:cert:
