ROLEX 24 Hours at Daytona

LET THE RACE SEASON BEGIN !! :hurray::hurray:

BuckyThreadkiller 01-28-2012 2:42pm

DP Corvettes. Good to see the crossed flags flying at Daytona again.

VatorMan 01-28-2012 2:45pm

GT will be interesting with Ferrari and Audi joining.

BuckyThreadkiller 01-28-2012 2:49pm

It'd be great to see a Corvette beat the Riley BMWs in DP and a Camaro out run the Audis, Bimmers and F-cars.

VatorMan 01-28-2012 2:58pm

I hope as well.

ApexOversteer 01-28-2012 3:03pm

Begin? These days the racing never stops.

WRC '11 ended middle of November, Sprint Cup the 19th, F1 ended November 27th, V8 Supercars went into December, The ROC was in late December, the Dakar went the first two weeks of this month, WRC '12 started back up last weekend in Monte Carlo, AMA Supercross has been in full swing all month and I know Speed has been airing Sprint Cup testing.

There is always at least one currently competing, international level, race series or event to watch every weekend.

VatorMan 01-28-2012 3:14pm

Well, How about the AMERICAN racing season then ? Geez Didn't know I had to be so specific.

True, but for me, Daytona has been the start of the season and then it runs through the Sprint Cup Championship with a little of everything in between.

I'm hopeful that this year I'll get to see the Cup and Indy cars at TMS, the NHRA Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex and then make it down to Austin for the F1 circus if I can afford it.

BuckyThreadkiller 01-28-2012 3:32pm

Damn that's a big GT field.

Hoog 01-28-2012 4:02pm

Two Corvette DP's with problems in the first 30 minutes.

How do you have motor issues with an SBC? Its the most raced engine in history.

DAB 01-28-2012 4:28pm

1 hour down, 23 to go.

BuckyThreadkiller 01-28-2012 4:30pm

Corvette leads! Nice job Gurney!

Must be based on the LS7.

Valve train problems is what was said in the interview with the #10 team owner.

They are packing up the car in the trailer 3 hours into the race.

Fuking Corvette Junk.

(man I hope my LS7 does not grenade :D )

:leaving:

The Bimmer blew 3 hours in as well.

But the Fords look as strong as bulls breath.

Nice for Ford.

I kind of got a kick out of the Ganassi car running into the team mates tire in the pits. Ole Chip always has an excuse.

Omega Man 01-28-2012 9:25pm

Corvettes still # 1 and 2.

Did the R8's ever get back out of the garage?

RedLS1GTO 01-29-2012 11:52am

3.5 to go and not such a great debut for the Vettes. :ack:

...and in GT, the more things change, the more they stay the same. 3 Porsches dominating with a lone Ferrari hanging on the lead lap.

When did the Vettes bow out?

The Sun Trust #10 lasted 14 laps. The Gainsco #99 lost a water pump belt and killed itself overnight.

The other few are still on track but not at all in contention.
