Cars & Coffee is held on the first Saturday of every month.... Sunday or the following Saturday rain dates depending on forecast.

Originally started in Irvine, CA at a strip mall on the PCH, the Cars & Coffee idea has steadily spread to various areas across the country. Here in Virginia Beach we have the beach, we have the sports cars in the area, and we have plenty of coffee so it seemed a logical fit to start a Cars & Coffee event around here.... This is an informal hangout for mature car enthusiasts who enjoy an early morning drive and a cup of coffee.

Are you normally busy on Saturdays with a list of honey-do's or family commitments? Well that's perfectly fine because you can be back home before your spouse is even up ;) Enjoy your car hobby and still enjoy the rest of your day.

Cars & Coffee Virginia beach is held at La Promenade shops off of Laskin road which has ample parking, pleasant surroundings, and an excellent local coffee house on location.

Zeus posted a C&C in Nova a few months ago after the 1st snow and it was pretty cool. The temperature was cold and the roads weren't the best, but people brought their cars out for a few hours. It wasn't just an import gathering which is cool. If I wanted to see only Corvettes I'd go to Waterside or Carlisle. There was 3 other Vettes, a Viper, Ferrari, Aston Martin and bunch of Benz, Porsche and BMWs; oh and a Saleen S7.

It was good to see a group of car enthusiast stand around and comment on others cars without any (very few) snotty remarks. Everyone was admiring everyone's car.

Yeah that's the whole idea... get a great variation of cars out. The thread on the local board has really gotten some legs. Looks like we're going to shoot for the morning of the Waterside Corvette show... Waterside starts at 9 so there would be plenty of time to get up for some coffee then cruise over to Norfolk.

Would it be OK if I called it Cars & Chocolate Milk? Coffee tastes like poo.

And just how do you know what that tastes like? :toetap: :leaving:

Sounds pretty cool...like I was telling one of my music groups last night as we were talking about fund-raising ideas. "If it sounds interesting, let's give it a shot, what is the worse that could happen....it not work, and we know for future reference"

The ball is rolling... I'll keep this thread updated when we have a location/date/time locked down for the first one. It's looking like we're going to do April 10th (yes the day of the waterside show), but early so it'll start before. This won't be about fund raising or anything... just creating a mature car hangout and attracing some of the nicer cars in the area. Not that you have to have a nice car (I don't equate a C5 to a Ferrari) but it'd be cool to create an atmosphere where the owners of those cars around here want to come out.

Oh c'mon, we've all slipped past the ridge by accident at least once . . . :leaving:

Ah man, same day and time as the Waterside show :(

To all you bozos who don't understand the concept of time ;) This is 8am to 10am... Waterside is 9am to 12pm arrival then 12pm - 3pm the "show".

Southside Corvette guys are going to meet up at Shorebreak in the AM then cruise to the waterside event. I'm going to do this then go to Waterside between 10 and 11.

Well "bozos" like me:seeya: who live on the northside have to leave at least hour ahead of any arrival time just to make it close to on time. Last year we left at 8 just to get a decent spot at Waterside.

sorry if this info is already posted and dont mean to thread jack, but is there any peninsula caravan to waterside set up??? If not I might swing out to the cars n coffee before heading in...

Last year we met up at the AMC24 on Big Bethel. I think that is the plan for Greenman and I but nothing set in stone yet.

If plans fall through with going to the new road course (NCCAR) in North Carolina tomorrow morning, then I will be definitely be their!

Cool.... I thought NCCAR was more of a driver defense training course for law enforcement/military type of stuff? A buddy sent me a link to it awhile back.

It is, however NASA Southeast is having an event HPDE only event their this weekend. It looks like a really fun, and fast course. It's also only like 85 miles away from my house.

Tony, you should have stayed a little longer. I was walking around and heard the guy in the red Miata telling someone his car could take any Vette out there. Obviously he has not seen you or Jason drive....

Ain't many folks beat Jason that I've seen but I've been beat by Miata's on courses set up for them, hard to beat them when reverse gear is required for a Vette to make a turn!! Throw a straight in there that at least allows speeds over school zones and make that Miata turn into a sweeper and we can see what happens.

I know, I was beat by a smart car....BUT it was my first time on an auto-cross track. The distance between the cones was really not Vette friendly. :toetap:

I know the Vette is not the "ultimate" car and there are a lot out there that can take them on, but it is like you said, Time slips don't like, AND Put your $$$ where your mouth is.

In other news....

It has come to my attention that an automotive marketing firm that goes by carsandcoffee.info has followed my trail to the Hampton Roads area. I originally approached them when thinking about starting the Cars & Coffee idea here in Va Beach thinking they had some kind of ownership rights to the name; they do not. They offered to sell me a marketing package for $3500 and I kindly declined.

Of late I have received phone calls asking me to discuss my "operation" with them and discuss the use of the name. It turns out they sold their marketing package to a local car dealership franchise.

I just wanted to bring it up to everyone's attention if you start seeing anything about Cars and Coffee Hampton Roads.... they are not the same thing.

Please continue to see Cars and Coffee Virginia Beach and the C&C VB facebook group for any info and updates.

The next gathering will be June 5th as planned at La Promenade.

Forget about the contact from the "automotive marketing firm". It is just some guy sitting on the domain on Godaddy.com hoping to make a buck off of someone else's idea, it happens all the time.

I registered a couple of sites. I got emails saying I had their domain, I told them I have it and they don't. Then they wanted to join forces to share the domain and my reply was less than positive. They finally gave up and moved on.

They run a site called carsandcoffee.info and I contacted them when I had the idea originally thinking they had some type of ownership rights; they don't. Here's the package they wanted to sell me for $3500/yr.. note the part where they explicitly say they do not have rigthts to the "Cars & Coffee" name:

So basically they created a website for C&C hampton roads as a subsite of their website and made a "press release" which was nothing more than creating a HR section on their forums and making a post in it.

Yet they have hired some independent local marketing firm called seven (something) marketing to call and bug me... basically I told them I didn't want their product, they saw the good turnout/interest, then sent someone here to sell their "package" to somebody. They're more than welcome to do that... it's tacky, but to call me and try and tell me I can't use the cars and coffee words is unprofessional. I know for a fact that they do not have it trademarked... a gentleman in GA does.

Oh.... I just purchased carsandcoffee-hamptonroads.com and hamptonroadscarsandcoffee.com to go with my existing carsandcoffeevb.com, carsandcoffeevabeach.com, and carsandcoffeevirginiabeach.com

That is what I had to do when I started my sites, registered several variances. Still some SOB registered the info extension and wanted to play games, he finally gave up. I Googled the dude and he was doing it for several sites. Funny part, I haven't had time to work on the sites for about two years now and just have them parked right now.

488 cubes + a Kenne Bell, I probably would have gotten smoked. Not saying I wouldnt have tried as I'll run anything if the situation is right.

Hmmm.... I guess it depends on the year... through '99 or maybe '00 they had forged pistons, after that they were cast. If it was a later car then it can't take as much boost. Plust the '99s had the strongest cam of the bunch.... they changed it for emissions the year later, you can hear the difference in the lope at idle.

I think you'd have fared better than you suspect.... your power band is better for a highway roll race.... **** it's better for most everything. A v10 w/ a twin screw = spin all day.

Ive talked to the"kingsnake" guy before at jenros, If I remember correctly he mentioned its in the low 500hp range (Definetly a beautiful car in my opinion).

Wow I can actually make this one if I get my butt out of bed. And I will even have my car!!

Ummm never mind, the car is at Farm Fresh waiting to be towed back to VA Speed for them to fix. I went to start it and it revved to over 3K with no pedal response. I got the reduced power message so I just shut it off. I swear its always something.

Come anyway.... just to hang out and check out the cars.
