So...TV Commercials

While I try my best to not watch commercials, it's somewhat unavoidable. I have noticed in the last year that in AT LEAST 50% of the commercials I see where a partnership or marriage is implicated, the couple is mixed race. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

I really don't care who marries whom (e.g. there are some Latina chicks whose bones I'd jump in a millisecond), but do we really have to try this hard? Since when is it a badge of shame to marry or co-habitate within your own race? It just seems all very contrived to me.

Discuss.

You will embrace their values!

My wife complains about the same thing! :leaving:

What I've noticed is how many TV shows/movies are now throwing in random acts of gayness/homosexuality.

U.M.

All advertising is that way...gotta be inclusive.

Probably ten years ago, we had a client that had a billboard ad campaign that wasn't well received.

It said something like "4 out of 5 people prefer...."
The image was 4 crackers standing on a black line and the 5th was a black guy dangling by one hand at the end of the line.

Woof.

Very fortunate it was before the PC culture had taken over and social media wasn't as widespread.

I am white. My wife is white. But we adopted a black dog...My other dog is brown. We also have two cats and one is black.

We are a mixed race family.

The fact that you even made that observation makes you an evil right wing conservative prejudiced racist, homophobic, misogynistic, bigoted, Hitlarian Trump-loving capitalist Zionist Nazi pedophile and overall mean ol' poopy-head. Your Klan brethren will be proud.

This has been quite noticeable. Also if kids shown with two white "parents", many times a adopted(more than likely) other race kid is show like at dinner time or breakfast

Burglar alarm commercials never show a black perp doing the crime, but most times it is a white guy who burglarizes a black owned house and is cought by a black cop.

i see similar patterns on these home search/home improvement shows.

C5SilverBullet 09-05-2017 1:52pm

I don't see race, so I haven't noticed.

I think House Hunters (one of my favorite shows) should have a separate show called Gay House Hunters. I would never miss it because I find them hysterically funny. I don't know why, but gay men looking for a house is just funny.

If you repeat something enough, it becomes true, right?

I noticed the trend in TV commercials too.
Has anyone else noticed the population trend in some counties where Caucasians are no longer the majority race?

DAB 09-05-2017 2:25pm

Santa Fe County, NM:

"2010 census[edit]
As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 144,170 people, 61,963 households, and 36,183 families residing in the county.[11] The population density was 75.5 inhabitants per square mile (29.2/km2). There were 71,267 housing units at an average density of 37.3 per square mile (14.4/km2).[12] The racial makeup of the county was 76.2% white, 3.1% American Indian, 1.2% Asian, 0.9% black or African American, 0.1% Pacific islander, 15.1% from other races, and 3.6% from two or more races. Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 50.6% of the population.[11] The largest ancestry groups were:

26.0% Spanish
22.4% Mexican
11.2% German
10.0% English
8.4% Irish
3.6% French
3.2% Italian
2.5% Scottish
2.3% American
2.1% Scotch-Irish
1.8% Polish
1.3% Swedish
1.3% Russian
1.2% Dutch
1.1% Norwegian"

german/dutch here....so i don't blend in very well. i think i'm the only Douglas Brinkman in the entire state!
