All practical effects. No CGI, and all actors were actually in the planes and had to be trained to sustain 8 Gs according to this interview:

Every military member (or prior) on the planet will pick apart a military movie. Just like when Goose got killed in the first movie. Cough...bullshit. The Aces II ejection seat comes up way above your head, and the canopy would have been long gone. He would have in actuality survived the ejection, no problem. Also, they show jets coming out of augmenter (after burner) insinuating that they flamed out. Cough...bullshit. It goes on for days, but hey, it is just a movie, and designed to be entertaining. I try to not let that stuff take away from the film, but sometimes it's a little hard not to.:seasix:

Should be a pretty good flick entertainment-wise.

Old Tom is a certified loon but he churns out some great movies.

He is a great actor, and still does (most of) his own stunts. :yesnod:

I liked the original Top Gun movie, though I don't think Cruise was the best actor in it.

You should try watching medical TV shows with my wife, the retired RN.

Try watching any show there technology is even mentioned. I couldn't even watch 24 when it was on, it was laughable.
