"Dignity of Congress" Just...WOW!!!

I just learned yesterday my contract DoD position at Fort Knox will end on Aug. 31 due to the budget crisis in Washington.

I was originally scheduled to work 6 months, then get hired on permanently. That apparently won't happen now since our elected officials can't (or won't) get their act together.

Comments like Pelosi's this week really gall me. These clowns are so disconnected from most of the American people, it ain't even funny anymore.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that she opposes a cut in congressional pay because it would diminish the dignity of lawmakers' jobs.

"I don't think we should do it; I think we should respect the work we do," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "I think it's necessary for us to have the dignity of the job that we have rewarded."

The comments were made in the context of the looming sequester, which would force across-the-board cuts affecting most federal offices, including Congress. With lawmakers nowhere near a deal to avert those cuts, federal agencies are bracing for ways to absorb them with minimum damage to programs and personnel.

Sorry to hear that, Julian.

Freakin' politicians. :cuss:

Wow Julian, if it was not bad you would not have any luck.:sadangel:

From what I have seen of you you will bounce back:hurray:

Hang in there brother!

That really does just go to show how completely clueless she really is (along with the rest of them).

Sorry to hear about your job being among those killed. My father is in the same boat. His company develops systems and technoligies for the Navy and just had the rug pulled out from under them.

You should keep a close eye on the GE jobs website.

Careers | GE.com

There are a lot of openings here in Louisville popping up these days in fields across the board in hourly as well as salaried and contract positions with all of the new model lines and expansion going on.

Julian,

My prayers are with you. Remember that God has plans for you to prosper.

True. My job is not my source, God is my source. And Heaven ain't goin' broke.

An odd situation at work today. My boss walked in and was complaining about the cold snap we are having this weekend. I told him to move to Arizona and he replied that he hates the heat more than the cold. He then said that Schaumburg is his final resting place. I told him that Heaven is my final resting place. The look on his face could have stopped a freight train, it was white as a ghost and as blank.

I believe that to be true, but HELL is sure trying......

friggin' DC, I would show them some cuts, the unemployment in the entire region would go well over 40%......wholesale elimination of agencies, tell them to find a REAL job, :issues::issues::sadangel:

and I am really sorry to hear of your plight, you have been there too much over the last few years.......:sadangel::shots:

OD, don't throw in the towel. Anything is possible and no one really knows what is going to happen.

I'm waiting for it to hit us...I really expect to do the "perp walk" out of the facility again.

I need to get away from DoD work....

So dignity in a job where you have not accomplished one thing you are supposed to in how long? (Balanced budget for one). I'm pretty sure if you or I had "performance numbers" like them... we would be on unemployment

VITE1 02-16-2013 11:35am

Good luck Julian.

BTW the Party of "People need to pay their Fair share" has forgotten that Median households incomes have dropped. Maybe those in power need to pay their "Fair Share" by reducing their salaries just like the rest of us have.

OddBall 02-17-2013 8:47pm

Prayers for you Julian.

There is an all-hands meeting for the full-time, permanently hired, non-government personnel at Fort Knox today. We expect they will be getting news similar to mine.

Already there is talk of government employees working four days a week instead of five in an effort to reduce operating costs.

At least I was given grace to find another position with another company before my present gig runs out.

Got faith in another on-foot landing for you, Julian!
