New kitten...very young....

Linda mentioned needing a cheaper truck/van to run....10 mpg just sucked...and so I hit the local Craigslist.....'99 S10 with topper AND a ladder rack.....4 cyl, iron duke engine....fresh auto trans decent tires, etc.....the man took 1900.....so tmrw or when we get the cash out...I need crawl under it to look for frame rust....body/bed look fine should get at least 20 mpg.....

then we get a chance to sell the 3500 V8 van....should get at least a grand for it.....it's a '99 also.....

AND the kicker, the pickup been setting for several weeks, and sure enough when we popped the hood....there it was a NEW KITTEN, little tan critter with it's eyes all gooped up, so wife of course fell in INSTANT LOVE and we brought kitten home.....truck owner never knew it was there.....good thing we opened the hood before driving it.....so we brought kitten home and wife cleaned up the eyes, and they seem to have color, and follow motion.....so kitten in in a box....where else with food/water and wife now looking for kitten food.....

SO after loosing her Mom early this year, AND her ~14 y/o Chiwawa, AND one of the two cats also 14 y/o and got sick and ran away.....the other 14 y/o male cat is here doing ok.....

so wife has a bit of hope now.....been a shitty year on top of all the rest of the public BS.....much less house needs a roof, and we just dropped 300 bux yet AGAIN into her damn car a/c ......

Well, 720pm here now wife got back some 3 hours ago....and something the vet gave us seems to feed the kitten pretty good.....chowed down twice...and even water intake, and crapped in the litter box, just a mini turd like an inch long....but seems to favor the litter box.....thankfully, so far.....and the running around little voice is funny, under my desk legs, under the couches.....and I have to watch my step.....as for the eyes....some meds and a visit on Friday....'

little critter has picked up his step.....4 wheel drive is activated.......two witnesses......and BO, the large ~14 y/o cat just seems to ignore him.....

No chip. I have 2 suspects in mind. A homeless guy that I found out yesterday that he is a pervert that likes sex with animals. I checked where he is staying with no sign of any cats having been there. The other I will try to check into tomorrow.

Fuzz E. Ball is doing rather well, eyes still sore, but putting liquid in them, and kitty walks all around the house, obviously vision is at least somewhat functional, and eats normal now, special attractive kitty food.....and we MAY have found a home for the critter.....

You should keep her housebound permanently. The difference in life expectancy between indoor cats and cats allowed to roam outside is huge. Ours go out on the screened in lanai but that is the closest to being outside they ever get

So you are saying to keep the sweet ones inside and let the annoying ones roam outside?

I keep letting Fuzzball out, but she keeps coming back. I guess I'm doing it wrong. She likes to go out, and I let her when I'm around. She usually goes out for an hour or two, then comes back in. She doesn't get to go out when it's dark, or soon to be dark though.

It's a guy, and we want to give it away.......we too old to be taking on a ~15 years obligation....

Only 2 years...

Cashew "Chicken"

INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup roasted, unsalted cashews
1/4 cup water
2 teaspoons cornstarch
4 tablespoons hoisin sauce, best quality such as Kikkoman or Lee Kum Kee
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1-1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or tenderloins, cut into 1-1/2 inch pieces
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 medium garlic cloves, minced
8 scallions (1 bunch), white and green parts separated, each cut into 1-inch pieces
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1/4 teaspoon Asian sesame oil

INSTRUCTIONS
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Place the cashews on a baking sheet in a single layer. Toast in the oven until fragrant, about 5 minutes. Set aside; they will crisp up as they cool.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the sauce: in a small bowl, whisk together the water, cornstarch, hoisin sauce, and soy sauce. Set aside.
  • Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl. Sprinkle with the salt and pepper and toss to coat evenly.
  • In a large nonstick skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil over high heat until very hot. Add half of the chicken to the skillet and stir-fry until lightly browned but not cooked through, about 3 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
  • Add the remaining tablespoon vegetable oil to the skillet; then add the remaining chicken, garlic and white parts of the scallions. Stir-fry until the chicken is lightly browned but not cooked through, about 3 minutes. Return the first batch of chicken to the pan. Turn the heat down to medium and add the rice vinegar; cook until evaporated, about 30 seconds.
  • Add the sauce mixture to the chicken; cook, tossing, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce is nicely thickened, about 1 minute. Remove from the heat. Stir in the scallion greens, cashews and sesame oil. Serve immediately.
