'77 L48 vette-3rd distributor in a week...

got a friend with a 77 vette, it died and he had it towed to my house.
he said it died clean like he turned the key off or something.
no spark at plugs.
so installed new cap/rotor,module, no spark.
new coil, no spark.
pulled & replaced distributor, re-used
new cap, coil, etc...fired right up. 2 days later, died again.

exact same symptoms, and same diagnostic process--wouldnt run untill an entire distributor swap.

that was 3 days ago. this morning, guess what...

yup. towed here again.
wouldnt run untill entire distributor swap. so whats killing the pickup?
( only part left in distributor not changed, gotta knock rollpin/gear off
to change--if that distributors coming out new ones going in. )
hes on his 3rd new distributor in a week.

anyone got any ideas? thanks in advance...
(hah. i said 'advance'...in a thread about distributors...get it?
awww, c'mon, that was FUNNY...:rofl::rofl: )

At least you still have a sense of humor about ti.

Check the power wires to the distributor/coil for continuity/resistance. At this point they are old and suspect.
