Who has gone to an artificial Christmas tree?
I did about 8 years ago. Real fir trees in the 7' range were about $150 (probably more now), only to make a mess of needles on the carpet and then throw it away. I bought a pre-lighted artificial tree, all white lights or all colors, blinking or not) 7 1/2 feet tall for about $600. I figure I've recovered my investment several tines over.
And taking down the tree is so much easier: Just remove the decorations (except for the lights), and pull the three sections apart for storage. And no mess of needles on the floor that are damned near impossible to vacuum up. You made the conversion yet? |
got a fakey a few years ago. no pre-lit, so i get to put the lights on each year.

years ago pre lit.....this year first grandchild (probably only) and daughter asked if we can have a real tree.....of course I said yes

Many years ago. Real ones are an insane fire hazard, especially with the junk Chinese lights we use now.

No kids for years so no tree. When the grandkid gets older will do it for him. :seasix::cert::seasix:

Ours is a real Christmas tree. It just happens to be man made. :)

I’ve never had a real tree, we bought a huge display model pre-lit tree two years ago from homedepot, it still looks wonderful!
|
We have one up in the attic that's a fake, haven't put it up in about 15 years though. Have tons of outside lights too, sometimes I'll put them out but eh... BAH HUMBUG!
|
I don't put up any decorations. It's just me and the wife, don't need the spare clutter and don't have time for that shit anyway. Not anti Christmas or anything, just don't see the point. :island14:

Been about 20 years having a fake Christmas tree.:cert:

We went artificial a number of years ago. One reason was our cats. They wanted to climb up in the real trees.
|
Yeah I've been using one for almost 10 years. Comes in 3 sections with lights already installed. Takes about 10 minutes to setup and take apart. I no longer put up Christmas lights outside since my older kids left the nest, and where I live now, we have a neighbor that invested $$$ in a custom light show he puts on. He does it for the 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas.

Real. Took it Thanksgiving weekend when we went shooting... :seasix:

switched over to artificial about 4 years ago. Tree looks great, can't complain, other than no fresh tree smell. The convenience alone is worth the switch.

I switched four years ago. For many years (the period between late teen age kids and grandkids) I didn't put one up. After grandkids started coming pretty steady we started back decorating. Real trees from 03 til 13, fake since. Had a Kennedy Fir 7.5 prelit until this year. Bought a new Frasier Fir, 7.5' pre lit last week.

We have a 3 foot fake tree we put up DTS and it has decorations and lights on it....after New Years we put a garbage bag over it....up into the attic and wala......wait until next year to get it down.
I decorate still outside but nothing to write home about.....I like the way it looks :seasix: |
