Figs
My BIL and SIL have some fig trees on their new property. Y'all got any fig recipes?

Dunno, but I remember my grandmother's fig preserves were freaking awesome!
If you try that and it comes out good, I'd be happy to get a jar from you! :D |

That would make you the guinea pig.:D |
Unfortunately, no. I think maybe my aunt got all her recipes before she passed away, but she's very hard to get a hold of. I'll ask though!
I know there was boiling, sugar and lemon peel involved, but that's the extent of my expertise! And the jars/lids MUST be boiled absolutely sterile, or else the preserves (with all the sugar) goes bad pretty fast. I'll be glad to try them, LOVE me some fig preserves! And pear preserves too! Yummmm! :D |
I've canned tomatoes and green beans. I use my grandmothers sweet pickle recipe too so I know what you mean about boiling the lids, rings and jars.

I hear it is a good year for figs.

I think figs look like balls.

Cut them in half and brush a little olive oil on them. Throw them on the BBQ on the cut side.
Thank me later. :D |
