New Driveway

Been waiting 20 weeks for this since I ordered it. We're having 2-tone gray/white concrete pavers installed once they finish the demolition. So overdue, my driveway looked like crap.

They left at 3 pm today, as they filled the 20yd dumpster. New one here tomorrow.

Doug would freak out with all of the cracks in my driveway at the moment.

Norm 10-11-2021 3:39pm

Going to look nice when completed.

DAB 10-11-2021 3:41pm

i have compacted gravel (base course). no cracks!! and if one appears, just rake some gravel into it and tamp it down. :smash:

Pavers??? That will be a definite PITA when the snow comes:confused5::leaving:

Ya know you could have just cleaned the driveway instead of replacing :leaving:

VITE1 10-11-2021 5:18pm

Your roof looks wavy. :D

Existing driveway had some decorative concrete "enhancements", like faux bricks and a center circle. They have worn away and look like complete crap.

Cool thing about this job is that my concrete client (2022 will be my 30th year working with them), is trading services. My cost is $12,500, job would have been priced at $16,000, and I've been "billing" my time for the past 20 weeks. I'm down to only about 2k left. :yesnod: It's a win/win for both sides.

Funny part is, the folks across the street in this 1/4 acre burb are power washing their looser driveway....caved in on the downhill side about 1/2 way up the length.....and too boot, why bother, as I could clean my driveway in about ten percent of the cost/effort.....jeez....

What makes it looser? Is it gravel?

BayouCountry 10-11-2021 6:14pm

Hope it turns out how you imagine it to be.

Glad I waited to have my gravel driveway redone. The tree removers annihilated my driveway. I raked it to get it halfway back to normal. Just two more trees to go after I noticed a problem with their roots. Crap!

It's the driveway your parents warned you to stay away from when you were younger.

NO, OEM from ~50 years ago concrete, BUT the street/grade is rather steep on the downhill side, and in the middle of their drive length, it has been sunken in and so the lawn has been layed over with new turf many times.....SO the drive has no grade on their side of the street.....MINE does as I have maybe 5 feet of elevation over the....PLUS another 30' elevation to the swamp at bottom of the hill.....sure my driveway with a few splits if not purrfect but it drains and grows weeds/grasses in the sectors/cracks no biggie.....
