How did the trailer brake controller come out? Did it work properly?

How ever you cut it, water is good! :hurray:

Do you not have a well DAB? If not, how often do you have to fill that bad boy?

Well went dry many years ago. This lets us (me) make one trip a week to top off our buried storage cistern. We use about 700 gal/week. Better quality water and more dependable.

Ok so full is roughly 7000-7500 pounds including trailer, well within the capacity of the truck but definitely need those brakes

How big is the cistern?? and you need put some sort of chem system in the line, like for a swim pool?? but obviously less and different kind of chems??

try to dig another well?? I had my little 30' well irrigation well go dry, so I tried messing with it, but too much bother....it used to provide the heat sink for the HVAC a water to air type unit, but just no outside condenser coils.....nice large coils special wound, so freon in middle, water jacket outside....krazy plumbing as you can imagine.....but when it came down to it, a better air/air unit outside runs actually cheaper than the old water/air unit that came with the house....so we just rely on rain to make the grass grow, and it certainly been growing like MAD this year.....:sadangel::shots:

Buried cistern is 2500 gal.

Water is processed thru an RO unit.

Where do you get your water now? Expensive?

county run bulk water facility (open 24/7, self serve with an ID # and PIN #). water is 1 cent per gallon. the biggest cost is the gas to get back and forth, 39 mile round trip. likely will make my maiden trip with this tank tomorrow to top off the cistern. needs about 600 gallons.

Here's a nice "cheat" for backing up a trailer..... ALWAYS keep your hands on the bottom half of the steering wheel and the trailer will go in the direction you turn the wheel. :yesnod:

first load today was a success!

only needed 600 gallons to top things off, so it sloshed a little on the way home. used the tow/haul setting on the truck. took about 20 min to drain to the cistern, little gets left behind due to the incline locally, so i'll just have to account for that and water the driveway as I park it again. don't want to leave water in the drain pipe in winter, that would be very bad. :slap:

took fewer tries to park it as well, so all put away until next week. :DAB:

For an M1A fund take a look around your gun stuff and consider monetizing things you no longer use or need. I have been clearing out 35 year's accumulation of parts and accessories on Gunbroker of late, and I have acquired a pretty good down payment for a Springfield (or a Hi Power in my case) by selling online.

Haven't heard of them yet. I would consider a FEG if I could find one reasonably as certain models are an exact copy and Browning or aftermarket Browning parts interchange. I will do some research though!

M4s sell about $17-1800 new. I assume the deerslayer is an Ithaca model 37 with a smoothbore rifle sighted barrel? PM me some pictures if it is for sale please.

road trip after lunch: the MVD (motor vehicle dept) weenies need to actually see and touch the trailer and verify the VIN so i can get permanent tags. sigh.

hook it up and drag it downtown. thankfully, there is a large gas station across the street that i can get in and out of easily, as their parking lot is way to small to try dragging a trailer into it. they said they'll walk a bit if needed. good, put on your hiking boots.

and....no tags today.

they didn't have any trailer tags in stock, and my paperwork was not complete (still need the proper title from Texas). try again next week when i should have the title.

Hands on the bottom half of the wheel. Watch the mirrors and as soon as it goes out of position, straighten out. It's not a contest or a speed trial.

Take your time and it'll be good. Are your mirrors wide enough to see to back up? :confused5:

If you bought the trailer brand new, it should come with a MSO, a manufacturer's statement of origin, not a blue Texas title. I don't see why you didn't get the MSO when you paid for the trailer, since it was going out of state.

When you buy from a fly-by-night outfit, you don't always get the right paperwork. :shrug:

I'd love a Dan Wesson or Ed Brown 1911... Sweet 1911's.

big firm. state wide in TX. once i picked it up last friday, that began an automatic process to create my title on their end, and that should arrive to me later this week or early next week per a phone call yesterday. so i'll wait for that, and try this again (after i confirm they have the tags in stock).

I've been watching them for quite a while too. Some nice work they produce!!!!

I got one of their entry level ones and the fit and quality is as good or better than some costing twice as much. The slide is like it's on butter and the trigger is very smooth. All of them have triggers between 3.5lbs and 5lbs, I believe.

different ball set up today (5" drop, trailer sits more level now), and so i had to try parking it a few times. getting better at hitting my mark in less than 20 steps. :willy:

need to get a load of water tomorrow AM. will check the water meter and the dip stick at the tank to get readings on how much to get. :dance:

and now i find that parking backwards (truck facing down hill, towards the gate) makes the tank more level and results in better emptying of the tank. try that next time. got the trailer properly parked....after a few tries. sigh.

so we have water for the week. yay.

Getting better at backing up? Did you try my hand position on the steering wheel suggestion? Are your mirrors adjusted so you can see the trailer tires?

the trick is, i have to back it into a turn out, that's about 60 degrees from the line of the main driveway. so the hard part is getting the turn correct, both when and how much, so it ends up somewhat centered in the space for it. i have a 6x6 pinned to the ground at the back, so i can see when i'm back far enough, and can have an idea if i'm centered L/R. the truck is at an angle to the trailer when the trailer is where i want it. mostly end up looking at the pax mirror, so i can see the tires relative to the 6x6. it's not a straight back up job. :willy:

Sounds simple enough. here's where we went fishing up in Ontario Canada. Tow vehicle was a Suburban and the pontoon boat is 24' long plus the trailer it sits on. Over trailer length of at least 30', maybe 32' with a width of 8'

The blue line is where we pulled in at. At the first "bend", we would stop and put up the hardtop and soft top. Continue pulling forward ( blue line ) and then back up ( red line) down to the water. That included going between the dock with a good size cedar and the boat garage. Clearance there was 9'-6" I had an "extra" 9" on each side. You can see the dock and the boat garage roof by the red arrow in the water.

Mary would be on my right side being my "eyes" on the blind spots.

The longer the trailer, the easier it is to back up. :yesnod:

Snowmobile trailers (as wide as they are long) are the worst you'll ever deal with.

I have an aluminum 4' x 8' trailer that gets "lost" behind the Suburban.

As you can see, this is a pretty short trailer
