Windshield Rock Chips

Has anyone had to fix rock chips in their windshield?
Hubby did the repair to fill in two that I got driving back and forth to San Antonio this month. One wasn't bad, the other one I got Thu has 2 small spider cracks. Hope the repair keeps it from getting worse. God, cant stand the thought of having to replace the windshield $$$$. :ack:

Never had a chip repaired but they used to have those people that would sit in parking lots and do it for free. I know a few people who have done this and had great results. I think once it starts to spiderweb it's a lost cause and could spread across the whole windshield at the next bump.

Good luck!

I of course was the one driving when a rock hit the windshield of the vette. :slap: Mark was sitting in the passenger seat watching this huge rock hit his baby. :banghead: It was actually pretty lucky that it hit the windshield because it was only a few inches away from hitting paint...it hit in the lower right hand corner, which is also lucky because you cannot see it when you drive.

Mark did a cheap kit to "fix" the chip but it did not really do anything. You can still feel the chip. But it was also not deep enough to split...THANKFULLY! :willy:

Had one in the windshell from hail damage on the way back from Liz's this past summer. It started to spiderweb so the windshield had to be replaced. It was only a $50 deductible and we couldn't roll the windows down for 72 hours or so.

Take it to a windshield installer and have it professionally fixed. They can "pressure inject" a type of epoxy in the cracks and keep it from getting worse. Most of the time they can fix anything smaller than a quarter in size?

They fixed my DD and it only left a small white dot where the chip was.
