Shameless Dem to capitalize on tragedy to further left's assault on civil liberties

Repulsive. Authoritarians know no bounds and will stoop to anything in order to further the relentless assault on individual liberty.

Carolyn McCarthy readies gun control bill

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0111/47338.html

Quote:

One of the fiercest gun-control advocates in Congress, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), pounced on the shooting massacre in Tucson Sunday, promising to introduce legislation as soon as Monday.

McCarthy ran for Congress after her husband was gunned down and her son seriously injured in a shooting in 1993 on a Long Island commuter train.

“My staff is working on looking at the different legislation fixes that we might be able to do and we might be able to introduce as early as tomorrow,” McCarthy told POLITICO in a Sunday afternoon phone interview.

Gun control activists cried it was time to reform weapons laws in the United States, almost immediately after a gunman killed six and injured 14 more, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, in Arizona on Saturday.

Many said that people with a history of mental instability, like the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, should not be able to buy a gun — and no one should be able to buy stockpiles of ammunition used by the 22-year-old assailant.

McCarthy said she plans to confer with House Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to see “if we can work something through” in the coming week.

McCarthy’s bill will look to protect ordinary people, she said, but did not offer further details.

“Again, we need to look at how this is going to work, to protect people, certainly citizens, and we have to look at what I can pass,” she said. “I don’t want to give the NRA – excuse the pun – the ammunition to come at me either.” . . . .
What a piece of garbage. Love the tasteless pun as well.

Par for the course though. As soon as it happened, leftists were gleefully using the tragedy to falsely bash the Tea Party movement and supporters of INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY and LIMITED GOVERNMENT everywhere. Hell, just read some of the early replies on this forum.

I think the world is waiting with baited breath what inShannity, Beck, Bill'O and Rushbo have to say ...

We've already heard some the (R)'s espouse the same talking point from the same memo ...

Freshman Republican ~ Rep. Raul Labrador, R- Idaho, just elected last November, said ...

“We have to be careful not to blame one side or the other, because both sides are guilty of this.
You have extremes on both sides.
You have crazy people on both sides.”

Not to be rude, but what does your post have to due with the topic? A democratic congresswoman is seeking to use tragedy to further the assault on our 2nd amendment rights. Approve of her actions? Disapprove? Why?

p.s. where about in Alabama are you? One of my potential moving destinations in 2012.

Check out Neal Boortz's interview on CNN tonight ... even the host finally had to interrupt and ask ... what are you talking about ?

... this from Beitfart ~ tucson shooting - Big Government

In Defense of Inflamed Rhetoric

Sheriff Dupnik’s political sermon came before any conclusive or even circumstantial proof had been offered that the shooter had been incited by anything except the gas music from Jupiter playing inside his head.

For as long as I’ve been alive, crosshairs and bull’s-eyes have been an accepted part of the graphical lexicon when it comes to political debates.

Such “inflammatory” words as targeting, attacking, destroying, blasting, crushing, burying, knee-capping, and others have similarly guided political thought and action.

Not once have the use of these images or words tempted me or anybody else I know to kill.
I’ve listened to, read—and even written!—vicious attacks on government without reaching for my gun.
I’ve even gotten angry, for goodness’ sake, without coming close to assassinating a politician or a judge.

From what I can tell, I’m not an outlier.
Only the tiniest handful of people—most of whom are already behind bars, in psychiatric institutions, or on psycho-meds—can be driven to kill by political whispers or shouts.
Asking us to forever hold our tongues lest we awake their deeper demons infantilizes and neuters us and makes politicians no safer.

Are you kidding ?
Just prior to my departure from CFPR&C, one of the wackos (a nOOb one that) stated he was gonna find out where I lived and steal my FRC, pack it with a fertilizer bomb and detonate it where Obamas kids play ...

Sad.

I'm watching Ben Mcgahee (Loughners' community college basic algebra teacher) being interviewed by Shepard Smith and talking about how Loughner would interrput the class about his 1st Amendment Rights being violated ...

He always disturbed the class in this regard frightening everyone around him ...

So you ask ?

How do your 1st Amendment rights get violated in a basic algebra class ?

SOP for exotix to immediately hijack threads.

ChasC5 01-10-2011 9:02am

Focus people, the Blame in on the person who did the shooting!

But what needs to happen is; the Adults (ALL D/R or Whatever Letter) must dial down the Gun/Shooting/Hate References … Period!

The LEADERSHIP needs to Step Up and LEAD by Example!

They (EVERYONE) also need to STOP Playing Stupid and pretending that what they say don’t have consequences.

The (R) leadership is stepping up and leading by example ... right now they're in emergency mode to figure out how it's their 1st Amendement rights to hate on Libs for bashing on their 1st amendment right to hate ... (same paranoia as the Tuscon shooter)

What you're gonna see is escalation in right-wing paranoia than ever before ... you just saw it with Tinkerbell and this OP ... same shit since Bush ...

.... right now the right-wing target for hate of the Tea Party is the Sherrif of Pima County ... who knows from experience what right-wing vitriol of hate has done to his community ....

But somehow you all are the authority although none of you has ever been there ...

Rand Paul was called out on this one, but he never minds being a fake-neocon paranoid anyway who stomps on womens' heads because he's a paranoid ..

Broken Wind 01-10-2011 9:48am

Of course we can always just keep denying the symptoms and keep pointing the finger to the other side or keep saying; “well they did it too!”

Or the Adults can step up to the plate and call out the Children for what they really are.

Getting back to the topic of the thread ... it's your 1st Amendment right to paranoia that it's paranoid of the Left to assume their 1st Amendment right to assume that this mass murderer was influenced by Tea Party vitriol of hate ... as an acceptable jump to conclusions ....

Right-wingers on the other hand have only one venue .... defensive-posture-paranoia via guilty conscience ...

In other words, the momentum now is against the Tea Party ... good luck weasling your way out with paranoia-in-continuam ...
