politicians of both parties long ago figured out that if they separated people into groups, then they could assign you to a group, make promises to that group, and count on your vote.

people are joiners mostly. we like to belong to something. our church social group, the NRA, NOW, AARP, NAACP..... and each of these groups has one or two hot button issues that drive their existence. if you promise to preserve their favorite stuffed toy, you in large part can count on the votes of their members.

and likewise, you can also accuse your opponent of wanting to take away the favorite stuffed toy from your group. that would be sad, wouldn't it. ergo, don't vote for THEM, vote for US.

and so the body politic get sliced and diced and favor is curried from various groups until you have enough groups cobbled together to win an election. wash, rinse, repeat.

as Trump pointed out, the democrats have been making promises to blacks for 50 years, and yet, in large part, their lot isn't any better over time. but the welfare keeps coming, and the GOP is going to "lock you up and put you back in chains" to quote Biden, so that scares the crap out of blacks, and they keep voting as they are told.

so along comes Trump. he appeals to all people, not on group bases, but on what is good for all. and he wins.

and all the groups that didn't get their candidate are pissed. as they believe their favorite stuffed toy is now in danger of being lost for good. but it's not. but they don't know that yet.

so they get mad, throw a tantrum, yell, spread the trash around the house, and want it made all better please.

it will be better when they stop belonging to their group and let the worthless stuffed toy go. it's worn out. there is a better toy waiting, but they haven't seen it yet, and can't imagine how it would be better.

it's better when all, including them, enjoy more liberty, more freedom, can keep more of the money they earn, and stop relying on .gov for their day to day sustenance.

but right now, the children are mad and don't know what to do. it'll pass.

A very important tactic of a community activist is to create a boogey man. Sharpton and Obama were community activist. Duke did the same thing but I don't know if you would consider him a community activist.

"that's not who we are"

"they are out to get you"

"don't let them take away your rights"

and so on.
