New tires for base '07

Hi. I have Michelin Pilot Sports on it now, and they are great but getting worn.

Any other brands to recommend?

Bruze 07-22-2023 5:18pm

WTF? How dead is this place?

One more thing: They must be run-flats.

Bruze 08-20-2023 7:16pm

Sure is a lively forum here, can barely keep up with all the responses. WTF?

I have to get new tires (pretty sure) before the end of the month to pass inspection.

Will I have to sign on to "that other place" to get some friggin opinions? I imagine they will kick me off if I do.

So did you get tires yet ? :D

No.

Better get snow tires now.

Tires are important to have on cars, because tires go round and round. Tires, in fact, are round. And cars are like buses. They have tires, too, because they both have wheels. The wheels on the bus go round and round, because they have tires, which are round. So it's important for buses, AND cars, to have tires.

I couldn't be more thankful that this gif doesn't have sound.

It won't move for a few months so no rush now. :seasix:

And to actually add something of value, what's wrong with replacing them with the same tires? I've run those on my Vettes for years, including the C6 I had and the C7 I have now.

You know the old saying about opinions, but I remember reading all different ones about tires "at that other place." Don't remember for sure, but it seems some liked other brands that were just as good but a bit cheaper.

And then there was the fake pandemic and supply shortages which was still going on last summer regarding tires at least.

I've not checked since, but maybe everything's okay now. It passed inspection last September (?) cuz I know The Guy, but it will definitely need new skins this spring.

Thanks Steve. :seasix:

I only buy black tires for my Corvettes. Does that make me racist?

I'm a HUGE fan of the new Conti Extreme Contacts. Been on my ZO6 for about 2 years now. Nice and quiet, but can hook my 575 RW in pretty much every gear. Great tire...if you can find them.

Try the ones from china, very affordable.

Bruze 05-07-2024 7:40pm

So I'll be getting new Michelin RFs in a few weeks. I called my buddy but he said his tire machine won't handle the sidewalls, so he recommended a place that I know of that another buddy goes to and likes. Also getting new pressure sensors.

Just curious, cuz I've heard numbers all over the place. What kind of mileage should one expect with these tires, driving like the old man that I am?

These have 30k on them and would probably still go another 2k. That's more miles than on any vehicle I've ever owned.

The new ones will outlive me. :seasix:

Steve_R 05-08-2024 2:03pm

The Michelin all season tires on my C7 have ~30k miles on them, and have enough tread for another 20k easily.
