Leonid & Friends

Some of you may not have been big Chicago fans, but if you are not already familiar with Leonid & Friends you have to check this out. They are from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus and they do Chicago cover songs. What is really great, and this one is a prime example, is the absolute precision in which they perform and mix all the instruments and vocals. Turn up your sound and listen to how incredibly well they pull off this Searchin' So Long cover. Enjoy!

Brilliantly amazing. To so accurately reproduce every nuance of the song to perfection had to take a huge amount of effort. Dissecting the entire song to its smallest elements and reconstructing it again.

The thing that may not be considered here is that this is not simply copying. 10 bands with 10 members could play this song and all 10 will sound different. Anyone that plays has their style. Their technique based on what works for them, their personal dexterity, finger length, lung capacity, internal rhythm, subconscious influences, etc. To teach yourself a different way to play would be like learning to be fluent (not communicative, but FLUENT) in a different language with all of the colloquialisms and slang, and doing so in a few months or a year.

I saw them here in Dallas last summer. Was a fantastic show and I was very glad I got to see them. Their precision with the music of Chicago, Earth, Wind and Fire, etc. Is astounding.

And for those interested in the gal singing, her name is Ksenia Buzina. She is both smart and talented, speaking 7 languages fluently, has a masters degree in international economics, and is a piano virtuoso along with several other instruments, not to mention her vocal talent.

We saw them in DC last year at the Hamilton. Awesome show and yes, she is as hot as the pics.
