Corvettes at Carlisle quetions
What is the difference if any between registering for the fun field as opposed to registering for the NCCC judged show besides the judging? Do you get a better parking spot or anything like that?
Also, for the fun field or the judged show are you able to take your car and leave whenever you want each day or are you trapped in there and if you leave can you come back in? And lastly, when you register on line it says it's for the weekend. Does this really mean from Thursday through Sunday? I imagine it does but thought I would ask anyway. Thanks. |
Your ticket works for you and a guest and yes, the sticker you put on your windshield is good for the etire weekend and you can come and go as you please.
Your package will tell you where to enter and they guide you were to park. I don't know what the differences are between the two pacakges, but I've done the fun field the past 2 years. You get a nice little goodie bag as well with a T-shirt and coupons and such. hope that helps some. |

You register for the NCCC area and you get a very serious look at your car by people that know just what they’re looking at. Most register for the fun field, and that pass gets you and a rider in and out of the place for 4 days. Some groups have reserved parking areas, but there is plenty of VETTE ONLY parking inside the grounds. To be honest only a few come on Thursday as that’s a major set up day for the vendors. Friday is busy (been getting busier more each year) Saturday is the biggest more crowded day. Sunday is get away day and with all including vendors pulling large trucks try to exit it can be a serious Charlie Foxtrot trying to get out. Do bring good walking shoes and sunscreen and money and prepare for having a dam good time and meeting good people! Dave, a Carlisle person since 1996! |
Judged cars get prime parking in the center of the fairgrounds. Better than that damn hill.

As for me I love that DAM HILL, I park with my long time club (C5-6 registry.) I get there early and am normally parked within 3 cars of the flag pole. Been getting that parking space for over 10 years, you just got to get their early! It’s got a great view and considering how hot that place can get if there is a little breeze you can feel it up there. I'm 65 overweight & bad knees and have no problem going up and down the hill all day. |
Munch as you know, last year was my first time to Carlisle. I did the fun field. If you look at the map on the website from last year http://www.carlisleevents.com/ce/pdf...rvette_Map.pdf the NCCC judged area is at the top of the map. I walked up there and took pics of those cars (below). It seemed to me to be out of the way and a long walk up the hill away from everything and was on the down side of the hill. So you would be parking on a downhill incline. The area is roped off.
My opinion - I was just as happy with with the fun field. Just not real impressed with where they had the NCCC field. These were 2 of the cars in the NCCC show field (if you want to see more of them let me know): http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...Sep2010557.jpg http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...Sep2010555.jpg http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...Sep2010563.jpg http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...Sep2010561.jpg http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/s...Sep2010559.jpg :squirrelrun: |
Last year was my first trip to Carlisle and hope to go again this year. Flew up with a couple of friends but may drive up this time.

Well if you come for your first time or you come every year, stop by booth M153-155 and say that you saw this on the Vette Barn Forum and have a drink on me. Beer, water or soft drinks :shots:. Just want to put a face with a name from the Forums. Mike

Just found out from Carlisle that they’re going to put a couple porta-poties up on the hill this year. Less of a walk for some folks!
|
OK- I'll be in the CCA (Corvette Club of America) parking area just at the bottom of the hill. A couple of footnotes : IF it is calling for rain-BE SURE YOU LOOK at the area you are parking in. There are natural gullies you want to stay away from and if you are at the bottom of the hill, make sure you are not parked in the flood zone.
I'm hoping I can get a decent price on LT headers and installation. |
