Trekkies, question
I've always liked the various movies and series but one question I've always had is why do all the ships have to have a "saucer" section?
|
It's a flying saucer. :leaving:
|
I read that at the time, they wanted to break out of the cigar shaped rocket design off all the more cheesy sci fi from before. They sort of combined flying saucer with cigar shape and BAM Enterprise.
|
Is coffee being served within said section?
Every coffee cup needs a saucer. |
|
Later they retconned the shape as being the best design for warp-field efficiency.

The shape reduces drag in space.

There is no drag in the vacuum of space. Hell, a cube would be the perfect vehicle, hence the Borg ship concept. |

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9w-0b9-Ipd...20/sarcasm.jpg that's why I said ".....in space" instead of just "......reduces drag". try to keep up people. Here's another quote by me "The subtlety of my sarcasm makes me look the fool when in all actuality I'm a genius." |
