when i received my hood i did not like the way the vent looked. it looked like it was just a hollow square hole. i wanted a more finished look. here are some pics.

I first started by using some wood filler to close the gap. I used plywood. I then filled in the gaps with the epoxy resin and thickened it up like peanut butter with some silica. I then layed fiber cloth and trimmed it to fit. I then used resin to glue the cloth to the hood. i ran out of time today and had to go to work.

I must have an honorable mention for this poor door that has paid the ultimate price for getting painted all sorts of colors to figure out what color to settle on.......color that reminds me does anyone have a good idea of what color to paint the hood hinges? I will repaint the frame black of course but anyone have a good idea on the hinges I lack the complete artistic skill of seeing everything when its together. I want to paint it the same color as the hood but just not sure how that will flow. The plan is a hint of red under the hood not alot just a little.

I decided to make all this into it's own thread for you.....now we have a proper title for it....

That's a pretty sweet hood! So you filled in that part by the winsdhield or did it come that way?

Cobra4B 08-13-2010 9:20am

Only bad thing about what you did to the vent screen is that you can't change it now if you ever needed to.

That lime green color is pretty badass... hope it's a metallic w/ lots of flake. Those front frame rails are pretty bad... I'd remove most all of that stuff and repaint them and really clean your grounds.

That's the way it always seems to work out and it normally always cost extra..

No it came that way. I filled in where the vent was. I did think about the screen when i was filling it in if i ever wanted to change it but I came to the conclusion that if i ever had to repair it the hood was going to be in bad shape anyway. So its nothing a dremel tool cant fix.
