Gun Magazine

2 Attachment(s)
I'm finally about to acquire my first handgun, a Beretta 92FS. (Paid for, waiting at the store, awaiting permit from local PD)

It comes with 1 magazine; 10 round, because New Jersey. I'd like to have at least 1 spare, possibly 2, to minimize reloading breaks at the local range.

Should I buy OEM Beretta magazines, are there better choices, are there any I should avoid, etc.?

Also- Any recommendations for magazine loaders? I've been to a range with my son a few times, and pushing rounds into magazines with my thumb is somewhat uncomfortable. I've seen a couple of configurations: Maglula & ETS C.A.M; any thoughts?

Thanks!

Mec-Gar makes OEM magazines for quite a few gun manufacturers. You wouldn't go wrong with any of their magazines.

I have a Maglula. It works fine. My S&W .40 has very stiff mag springs and I find it impossible to load more than half full without using it.

I will say the Maglula is a thumb saver, We wouldn't shoot as much we do if it wasn't for that nifty little device. Also have a 30rd speed loader for the AR mags as well. :seasix:

You're waiting for a permit from your local police department to be able to own that? ICNLT.

for spare mags I always try OEM first; but right now you buy whatever is available.

i might own a few Beretta 92 variants, and have about 10 magazines for each. I stick with either factory magazines or Mac-Gar magazines (they make them for Beretta, so they know their stuff.

since you live in NJ, you are legally limited to 10 rounders, which should be available on the Beretta website.

https://www.berettausa.com/en-us/

these are $32 each: https://www.berettausa.com/en-us/ber.../jm92f-c80404/

these are $26 each (on sale): https://www.berettausa.com/en-us/ber...k-10rd/c80405/

and these are $34 each: https://www.berettausa.com/en-us/mag...only/jmc80404/

i mostly stick with the 17 rounders from the factory, or the 15 round sand resistant ones from the factory, but also have some Men-Gar 18 rounders.

Just bought a 160 rnd mag for my AR - why? Just because I could. Find a relative or a friend that lives out of state and ship the mags to them. No reason to be limited to 10 rnds just because your state is run by douchebags.

My "reason" is up to a $10,000 fine & up to 18 months in prison for possession of a higher capacity magazine. :Jeff '79: I'm not sure how (or if) that'll be enforced, but I have no interest in finding out the hard way.

All I'm going to do is target shooting; larger magazines don't mean much to me anyway.

Look how well the high capacity magazine laws have worked when criminals are caught with them. Almost none get convicted unless they commit a felony in possession of the mag or are white people.

Mec-Gar or factory. I would specifically avoid Pro-Mag, Ram Line, Tapco and the import see through plastic bodied stuff unless they have steel feed lips.

bigblock427 04-22-2021 7:51pm

I have similar loaders to the two pictured. I much prefer the type shown in the right picture.

I lost all my guns in a boating accident.

TripleBlack 04-22-2021 10:06pm

I have only one 6 round magazine left. :ack: Boating accidents suck.
