Brushed & Rolled

Flame retardent suit is on.

Let me set a little preface here first. I got this really bad hunk of junk for one reason only, to be a driveway ornament, never to be driven on the road, tagged or titled.

It just barely moves, engine, trans, brakes are shot, the interior is half missing, all the vinyl seating, carpet has deteriorated to nothing, half a dash, digitals are gone, all badging stripped off, it's really a piece of crap, should have been in the scrap yard years ago. One surprising thing about it is the body panels and windows are in decent shape.

Previous owner had rattled canned the entire exterior and, as you can expect, did not turn out well. Not looking the way I wanted, sanded it down and threw some colored primer on it, not rattled canned but brushed and rolled. Here are the results, and to me, turned out better than expected for something that's just going to sit outside.

Looks okay in the photos, but a non-running POS car as a "driveway ornament?"

I've seen alot worse roller jobs and i mean alot worse.
I've done numerous trailers and 2 cars using house paint, beaters all of them.
I bought a cheapo air sprayer and thinned the paint for one and it turned out pretty good overall(2 runs and biggins).
I say it looks good for a yard ornament.

Kind of two-fold, my interest in Corvettes and will be moved occasionally to give the illusion someone is home. I have a big driveway, will not be in the way of the garaged vehicles.

I had a 52 chevy driveway ornament for a couple years, then switched it for an old chrysler imperial. I'd open the hood so it looked like working on them, give neighbors something to talk about. One didn't have an engine.. Lol.

Driveway orniment? Is that increase the value of your single wide?

Actually from 20' away (and dark outside), it'll look pretty good! :D

I don't live in a single wide.

It's still a C4, it'll bring down property values for miles around.

I agree. A non running POS car ought to have at least looked good when it was designed and manufactured in the first place. The C4 looked blah in 1984 all the way through it's production. That said, it still looks better than a C5 or C6.

Hold the phone Virginia. You’re retired correct? Meaning your kinda home more often than not?

A true baller would park your current Vette outside and roll in a new C8. :Jeff '79:

So it's finally sitting in the driveway, pics of what folks see from the road and what I see from around the house.

I like it, it suits my purposes well.

Looks good Norm :yesnod:

About 1980, a new guy started where I worked. Older guy driving a two tone DeSota.

At lunch went out to look at his car and it wasn't until you got within 12' to 15' that you could see it was painted with a brush.

Driving down the road you would have never known. It did run like a top.
