Bourbon anyone?

I wanted a "fall" flavor today and settled on Evan Williams 2009 vintage single barrel bourbon. 86.6 proof and smooth as glass. Caramel notes on the nose; honey on the front, but not sweet. Butterscotch in the middle and vanilla apple on the back of the tongue. Complex, wildly flavorful and really "awakens" with just a splash of water. Excellent sipping whiskey!

Whatever the fuck you said, I can't relate. Yeah, I get it, it's like wine tasting. Ever since Simpleman68 introduced me to very high quality scotch, I had no clue, but my only metric was "holy shit that is smooth". No hard alcohol willies. His $500+ bottles of scotch were amazing, but breaking it down to 3 factors of ingestion is beyond my comprehension.

As far as flavors go...that ain't me. Flavor matters in beer for a dumbass like me.

I recently cracked a bottle of small batch knob creek, damn good...

I’m having a few guys over Saturday night so I’ve been making large 2” ice cubes all week, hopefully a few of the smaller cubes will actually fit in a rocks glass :banghead:

More of a whiskey guy actually. The 10 shots or so I do a year.

I need two right now watching the Cubs play the Pirates.

I'm also still on an Angel's Envy Bourbon kick.

EW single barrel is one of the best deals out there, ~$30 for a 10 year old single barrel

Agree, for an >$30 bourbon, it is darn good. I always have Maker 47, Angels Envy, and my favorites Jefferson's Ocean and Jefferson's Very Old, Very Small Batch.

Angels envy. Aged in Sherry casks.

I picked up a bottle of Ocean on our recent stop in Bowling Green, that is very good stuff, can’t find it around here though

As far as “cheap” bourbon goes, I’m a fan of four roses single barrel. My current go to is Bulleit...top favorite is Angels Envy.

I think that you can order from Total wine and they will ship it to you.

I’ll check that out, it used to be MI was not shippable but that may have changed

My pallet could never acquire the taste of any whiskey, scotch, rye, bourbon, gin, etc., unless it was mixed with sugary or masked with fruit or something. For sipping, just could not get past the burnt wood taste or chemical taste. Now, it's all a moot point anyhow, can't have alcohol, my liver would pitch a bitch and I will get sick as a dog.

JD green label
