I just got the call I've been dreading. Mike, Jim's son just called, and Jim passed away early this morning. In July he found out he had aggressive cancer throughout his body. He was told he could take chemo and perhaps make it a year, or 4-6 months without chemo. He chose the latter.

Over the past few years I've talked to him many times on the phone and gotten to know him pretty well. Unfortunately I never made it there for a crawfish boil, which I will forever regret.

Jim was a good man. The two most important things to him were his family and his faith in God. He's with the Lord now and not in pain. Say a prayer for his family if you believe in God, if not hug your family and tell them how much you love them because we don't know what the future holds.

I'll update this with details of any memorial service as I find out.

If you have memories of Jim you'd like to share with his family you can post them here as I'll send Mike a link to this thread, and he may join and post as well.

Damn. He seemed like a really nice guy with a great sense of humor. He will be missed. I trust OP will pass this thread link on to his family? They should know had an on line, slightly dysfunctional, peer group that also liked and cared about him.

I also got to know Jim pretty well over the past couple years. He was always a blast to talk to and game with. I’m also sorry I never made it to visit. Prayers sent for the family. I’m so glad he has an amazing support group.
