Went full retard/redneck last weekend

We re-purposed some pallets I got from work and I pay to get rid of. So, our camper sits on a low spot of the property and I realized we need to be off the dirt (soon to be mud) so we built a 8' x 20' deck :shots:

All of this is temporary until I get closer to retirement so I figure if it lasts a year or more we're good, besides, I have an unlimited supply of pallets :Jeff '79: :Jeff '79:

Sunrise (this) and sunsets up there are spectacular :datawiz:

What kind of stain are you going to use?

Yep, it qualifies for multiple categories.

Redneck - CHECK
Functional - CHECK
Economic - CHECK

I figure something simple like Thompsons water seal should work :seasix:

I only tacked the deck down for now because the blocking/shimming is sketchy at best, I didn't want to pull a million screws out to adjust it later :Jeff '79: Once it settles and all is good, we go back for thanksgiving we'll give it a seal

Hard to tell in the pics, but are you not able to fully extend the steps?

You might build another step or two and just leave them fully retracted.

No, the steps didn't fully open. It was a three step system, it's now a two step system (sawzall fix) :D Remember, we're talking redneck here... :Jeff '79:

What racecar drivers number you going to paint on the deck?

Based on the little bit I’ve used RV steps I’d think you be best to fold them up and build a little 2-3 step wooden step instead

After Super Storm Sandy the 4 of us got many many pallets and laid them down in the sand and used them as decks for a year or so until we could all get on same page for replacement decks.

Now redneck yourself a lean to roof and storage. :seasix::cert::seasix:

:yesnod: The RV steps are dangerous, I took a header out the camper once when it was still in the driveway at home

You will probably be eaten by bears before the deck wears out.

Ol Timer 11-06-2018 2:36pm

Now you gotta gitcha some concrete blocks and a rusted out pick up to put on 'em.

Pallets rot within a year here in FL, especially if they're sitting on bare ground.

They don't use treated wood.

Sorry, MeanZ06. Guess this means you're bear bait.
