Moral dilemma

A [now former] co worker Chris borrowed $15 on Monday with the promise to pay it back Thursday . Thursday is payday.

He got fired before morning break and the prick walked out without paying me back. He said "I'm good for it" and "I promise to pay you on Thursday morning". So much for being a man of his word :slap:

The $15 lost will not make a difference but it's the principle of being taken advantage of.

Part of me wants to just let it go and "my evil twin" was to bombard his cell phone with cat facts and other annoyances plus sign him up for tons of magazines at his home address.

WWTVBD? :confused5:

Let it go, write the guy off. It's not worth the aggravation.

I'd send a reminder text or vm to his cell one time. That would make me feel like I at least followed up.

If you don't get a response, I'm with Tommy, write that sheit off. You won't be seeing it and he doesn't deserve to rent space in your head.

It's $15 bucks and hes' got far larger things going on (partly) out of his control, or at least unexpected.

assuming this is actually a larger number...ouch, good luck collecting on that one. Its probably time to start preparing his concrete shoes, you'll never see that money again.

I've sent three texts so far. I'm going to call and leave a voicemail tomorrow then probably just let it go.

Nope, $15 US Dollars

While googling his name and the town he lives in, I found out he was arrested by the local police for disorderly conduct a couple years ago

Only lend that which you are prepared to "throw away", and treat it as such. If it comes back to you, then you are pleasantly surprised.

If all it costs is $15 that was a cheap lesson.

lspencer534 02-20-2016 8:41pm

Buddy, can you lend me $1500?

Jeff '79 02-20-2016 8:45pm

It only cost you $15 to find out what kind of person he is. Cheap. Move on.

Yep, it cost me $3800.

Guy gets fired and you are worried about $15? I loan a guy $15 and he gets fired before paying me back on the day he was supposed to pay me back, I tell him to don't worry about it till he has a steady income.

A little bit of conversation would have made a big difference. He literally walked past my work area when he left plus chose to not reply to texts after leaving .

THAT makes the difference on how I handle it.
