Back the Blue, Until It Happens to You: Cop Assaults 76yo Homeowner

Quote:

Oilton Police Department
5d ·
On the 9th of March, 2024, Sgt Beers received a phone call that several individuals who worked for OG&E were soliciting solar panels within the city limits.
The reporting party gave a description of 1 female and 2 males driving a car with Michigan Plates.
Sgt Beers made contact with the female subject involved on W. 6th St and informed that subject that they could not solicit without a permit.
The female subject stated she was with two other males that were driving around. The subject gave Sgt Beers a description of the vehicle that the other parties were driving which match that of the original reporting party.
A short time later, Sgt Beers was able to locate the vehicle and two male subjects parked in a driveway of a residence located on Westwood Ave.
Sgt Beers got out of his patrol vehicle to investigate and make contact with the two subjects as they were making their way back to their vehicle.
Sgt. Beers was speaking with the two subjects at this point while they were sitting inside of their vehicle when the homeowner started obstructing Sgt Beers investigation.
You will see in the video that Sgt Beers asked the homeowner several times to step back from him as the homeowner was showing aggression and threatened Sgt Beers with acts of violence.
Sgt Beers asked the neighbors across the street to assist him with calming the homeowner down to deescalate the situation before the homeowner was taken into custody to which they refused to help.
You will also hear at least two additional times in the video where the homeowner makes threatening acts of violence towards Sgt Beers.
Sgt Beers asked the homeowner to keep his hands out of his pockets and the homeowner refused.
Sgt Beers attempted to place the homeowner under arrest for obstruction and treating acts of violence at which point the homeowner resisted and made additional threats of violence stating,
“You put your hands on, I’m taking your Fxxking head off” while approaching Sgt. Beers.
The homeowner was instructed multiple times to turn around and place his hands behind his back and refused to do so.
Sgt Beers let the homeowner know this was a lawful order and the subject still refused.
As the homeowner is threatening Sgt Beers and approaching him Sgt Beers is forced for his own safety and the possible safety of the public to physically take the homeowner into custody.
The homeowner continued to resist trying to strike Sgt Beers with a fist and eventually kicking Sgt Beers.
The homeowner was eventually restrained from physically harming Sgt Beers at which point Sgt Beers believed the homeowner may be having a medical emergency.
Sgt Beers quickly responded by giving medical aid and calling for Emergency Medical Services.
You will clearly see Sgt Beers try to console the homeowner and give him life saving medication.
The homeowner is later loaded onto a medical bed and can be seen starring and growling at Sgt Beers.
It is unfortunate that these events had to take place but it is the opinion of this department that Sgt Beers acted accordingly based on training and officer safety as a Full Time State of Oklahoma CLEET certified police officer.
Video, but with commentary:

The officer was after some door to door salesmen that were apparently on this guy's property. Guy tells cop to get off his property, cop throws old guy down on the ground, apparently setting off a heart attack or something to the old guy.

I don't understand how the officer has a right to stay on the curtilage after being asked to leave by the homeowner. That's the crux of the confrontation, right there. I don't see how anyone could see this and not want the officer arrested and fired for this.

I support law enforcement. Unfortunately I don’t like most cops I have met.

Still wasting your time watching stupid cop block videos I see. Bill, why do you seem to enjoy videos where the cops end up in a difficult situation, are a criminal or have a criminal history?

Because it has become prevalent?

Define prevalent. One source says there are ~800,000 LEOs and in the U.S. Videos only get posted when something goes bad.

All of the cops I have ever known have been good folks. This is why stuff like this needs to be shown. I don't want this cop tossed. The guy was being an asshole by cutting distance several times. But this shows how right the people are that say we need cops that can defuse people acting stupid, as well as being the muscle.

I keep the weekend cop show on in the background while I'm doing computer stuff. There's this Chief from Hazen, AR who is the absolute best at the balance.

Body cameras make it prevalent

The only thing prevalent is stupid ****s too dumb to both breathe and interact intelligently with the cops at the same time, see Fentanyl Floyd for an example of this syndrome.

I'm with the cop on this one. He told him enough times. Besides, look at those homes. One panel cost more than the house,

Steve actually hit it on the nose in his question. The definition of prevalent has nothing to do with statistics. It has to do with occurrence. How many of these have you seen? How many stupidly slow 10 hour shifts are posted?

The cop is interested in confronting the solar sales people because they purportedly don't have a peddlers' permit, not the old guy. Once the old guy asks the officer to leave, why couldn't the cop have simply walked to the street and ask the solar salesmen to come join him on the street? The old guy was gruff, yes, but I don't see why he's not right. He has asked the officer to leave several times, but the officer doesn't leave the property. Why? Ego?

Two egos met on the field that day, and one of the egos got BTFO and had a heart episode. That showed him, I guess. **** you for trying to stand on your rights, old man!

It doesn't seem like this was a hot pursuit situation, where the cop chased these people down to the old guy's house. What right did the officer have to stay on the land once asked to leave? The implied invitation open to anyone to walk up and knock on the front door has clearly been revoked. Old guy is standing up for his rights as a property owner.

How would you like to run into these people?

Guy turns his dome light on, rolls down window, grabs his insurance and registration out of the glove box and gets.....this. He did the exact thing I would do. Would you be bewildered like this guy was if that happened to you? You good with getting tazed a few times, causing you to fall on the concrete with no control? Dude is lucky he survived that. Remember what happened to the White girl who got her head smashed into the concrete? I think she's still in a coma.

Floyd was being contacted because he had been accused of a crime. This is nothing like that. The cop has trespassed on his property, and old guy asked the cop to leave, several times, unsuccessfully. Old guy probably shouldn't have escalated with a cop who can legally assault him at will, though.

I have zero desire to run into a loser redheaded Door Dash driver who can’t follow instructions or keep his trap shut. As far as having a run-in like this with the cops, it is extremely unlikely because I’m not a criminal or internet lawyer who knows it all and likes to **** with the cops or give them a reason to **** with me.

So, by your logic, only people with fancy houses should have rights?

If you watched the door dasher get assaulted, and truly see nothing wrong with that, I just don't know what to say. They specifically state, guy has no police record at all, so he's just like you and me.

He turned the dome light on and opened his window, things police tell us you're supposed to . He grabbed his insurance and registration to have it ready, again, something police tell us we're supposed to do. He followed the instructions, showed the hands, unlocked the door, opened it from the outside, got out, put his hands up, put his hands on his head, walked backwards, and failed at the get down on your left knee while keeping your hands on your head, a pretty decent test of balance. And they tazered him. And then, after ransacking his car and discovering that this guy is just like you and me, no criminal record, no contraband, NOTHING....they chose to arrest him anyway, after endangering his life by causing him to fall helplessly on the concrete.

Again, if you don't see anything wrong with this picture, I just have no words. It was a game of Simon says that results in torture if you get something wrong.
