Who's going drag racing?

Is anyone thinking about going to the track rental day in Richmond put on by allthrottle&nobottle? It is Nov 13th and I think it's $105.

I would like to give it a shot but not sure if I can get the day off work, I endeavor to persevere.

Usually try to make these, to watch. Will be on my way to VIR for my final event for this year and will not be able to attend. Plenty of run time on the 1/4 mile for everyone.

There's also a Vette track day at MIR on Nov 6th.

Smackdown at MIR (in memory of Ernie King) - Corvette Forum

I really dislike Steve....they did not have the Corvette Challenge this season, so I didn't do any racing...and now that there is a track day...I am going to have to keep my eye on things...I would like to be able to do it.

Funny. :smilelol:

I need to install my meth kit, gauges and a few other things so I don't blow the engine on the track. If I can get this stuff installed and check the torque of my front end, then I need to get my shimmy fixed. It shimmy's around 80, but smooths out over 100. I had Rex check the tires/wheels, I guess alignment is next. I put it up on blocks today and most of my front clip is off so I am tearing into it, with a little luck I will be ready for the 13th. I probably should pay this thing off before tearing into it like I am, but you only live once.

Remind me to tell you my "shimmies around 80 story" next time we see each other.

The Security Police (Now called Security Forces) at Tinker AFB were proud to have gotten their shiny nice brand new Pursuit Crown Vics. Man they were pretty. All nice and White with Blue stripes. Really well done graphics.

On day 3 of their in service, one of the cars responded to a fenceline incursion and tried to drive down a steep hill. Ended up rolling it down the hill.

They rolled another one trying to reach the 1st one. So the Wing Commander was pretty ****ed.

Fast forward a week. Brand new nice shiny vehicle gets turned in to Base Vehicle Maintenance. In the form was written the words "Shimmies at 90 MpH".

Nothing else, it was turned in for that.

Now you are not allowed to go over 15 anywhere on a flight line. Even emergency vehicles are limited to a certain extent due to taxiing aircraft. Well, the word got to the Wing King that this vehicle had been turned in and he lost his friggin' mind.

Investigation ensued and they found out these guys were taking the vehicles out to a back taxiway and drag racing them. Tower videos gave them up.

They all ended up being posted to their stations via bus for 3 months. He took away the new Vics and gave them back their old POS Impalas. The General was LIVID.

Anyway, the rest of us had our turn to finally poke fun at the guys who made our lives miserable for once.

Have you been to Tinker AFB...I was staying right outside their gates when I was up in Oklahoma for a friend's wedding in May. There is nothing out there except that base....NOTHING. :bilmem:

That's funny, I don't feel sorry for them, I have had my run ins with that career field. I use to carry comm gear in and out of facilities and they would harass me because they were not allowed to inspect my goods, many times I had to make the phone call and all of a sudden they became very helpful.

One time I got a speeding ticket at Offutt AFB for 2MPH over.

One time while deployed I was downtown intermingling with the locals and consuming local beverages and came back a couple of minutes before curfew and they tried to arrest me, I was still hungover in the morning and said a few things to the base CO I probably shouldn't have said, could be the reason I didn't get my deployment citation.

The SF's are like LEO's, some are cool but many are very uncool.
