Imagine that exact same engine in a car that's 600 pounds lighter and has better aerodynamics. :D

I have been in many fast cars, but those older cars, with some extra umph, sure do bring a smile to my face.

Had a 67 LeMans with a '69 GTO 400 in it. Would haul ass, wouldn't tear up the pavement like my '69 Z/28 did, but one hell of a car. Especially since it had OHC6 on the fenders. Many people fell to the badest straight 6 around.

It helps that I had the pleasure of driving my friend's '68 convertible from IL to DC after he graduated from University. :D

What was the question?

mrvette 11-16-2020 5:42pm

My first car in '66 was a '60 vette, wrecked it,.....went into Pontiac B body cars for some 20 years then went into some imports, and back into a 87 vette in '92-3......in '95 I sold it and went into my '72 vette that I still have.....

Last Poncho I had was a '70 Lemans convertible.....I modified it a tad.....12 bolt 321 rear, frint disc brakes. 462 Pontiac V8 400 turbo, late Firebird mesh wheels....and DPFI I had pads for the injectors installed, 1000 cfm tbody, '79 caddy analogue computer, thing hauled ASS, large radiator....a/c blue with white top/interior.......towed a ~25' boat over the mountains to a 10 mile stretch of Potomac River up near the Md/W Va border.....C&O canal lock 4

As I have gotten old, I find that I rarely do anything worth remembering.

Definitely a 67, I grew up with GTOs. My Dad always had a 64-67 on hand. His baby was a 66, 421 bored .030 over, balanced, ported RA 3 heads with 3 dueces on a progressive linkage. M 22 rock crusher, 12 bolt "safe T track" with 4:11 gears. :yesnod:

Yeh NO SHIT!!!!

damnit, driving my self krazy trying to fix the wiper door on my '72 vette.....I electrified it because vacuum sux, worked fine for over 15 years, then the motor/ram I used failed, bought another, but in the hassle it got a bunch of crap disconnected and damaged over another project, had a wiring diagram.....that I drew up on the kitchen counter in about 30 minits or so.....

think I can fix my own shit?? hell NO.......DAMNIT....so I re engineering the entire mess, and let my son figger it out when he gets the car....

:dance::issues:

Back in the day my brother bought a 69 Nova with a 6 banger in it. We pulled that out and put a 427 in it. He left the 250 emblem on the car. One night at the drive in cruise in some kid told him that was the best sounding 6 he ever heard. My brother didn't say anything.:cert:
