[Hockey] Tight Race in the Pacific Division

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...gs4-5-2012.jpg

The Kings are in first place in the Pacific Division with just two games left to play in the regular season and they have not clinched a playoff spot. That's right, there's a possibility that the current leader of the Pacific won't even qualify for post-season play. :willy:

It's been an exciting, albeit frustrating, year to be a Kings fan. They proven themselves capable of playing phenomenal hockey and also capable of some truly lackluster performances. There's very little chance that they will go very far in the playoffs (assuming they qualify) but if they make it, their first-round opponent will certainly have their hands full.

Tonight is the first half of a home-and-home vs. the Sharks to wind up the regular season. It's gut-check time out West.

Go Kings, go!!! :datawiz: :datawiz: :datawiz:

I know there are hockey fans here in the Barn. Let's hear from you!

Great stuff, but they need to switch to a 3 point system. Three for a win, and then if it goes to OT, 2 and 1.

The Pacific has always been the tightest conference coming down to playoffs.

It is a little odd that 2 points are awarded for some games and 3 points for others. A 3 point system might work, but I don't think they are considering any changes at this time. Unless I didn't get that memo.

The last 3 or 4 weeks of the regular season have some extra intensity because of the close race. It's like the playoffs start early in the West.

i'm ok with the points, but i would do away with the division seeding. florida doesn't deserve to be a 3 seed over the likes of Pittsburgh and Philly.

Since I already admitted to being a Kings fan, you probably know I'm a big fan of the division seeding, despite the potential inequity. It's not necessarily a bad thing to be rewarded for winning your division.
