Wiper udder cleaning
If you're having trouble with your wipers acting up, having a mind of their own, coming on by themselves, won't seat properly, continue running when you turn them off.....then more than likely you have moisture in your wiper motor. This is caused by the drain udders getting clogged and letting water collect around the wiper motor. When this happens, moisture seeps into the casing and shorts the circuit board.
You can access the udders from the inner fender well covers. Simple enough to do. Remove the wheels, remove the 7mm screws, pull the liner down enough to get your arm in there. Look inside the fender and you'll see three rubber sleeves(udders) with slit openings at the bottom of them, hanging from the cowel area. Clean out these sleeves. This is where all the crud accumulates causing them to back up and retain water. Keep these clean and you're wipers should be trouble free for many years. |
Those udders are much larger than I expected! Just sayin.
Great tip by the way. |

I clipped the ends of mine last year. I never have to worry about that junk piling up again.
