Going to Atco with the new motor Sept 16th
Having the 384 replaced with an LS3 based 416. Goal is 9.9X but I'll be happy to see a 10.3 on her first outting. :yesnod:
Some Vette buddies are doing a track rental at Atco, NJ if anyone else wants in. There are still a few spaces available. I'll post up vids of my runs in another thread here later. Scott |
What does something like that cost?
I really have no business going, with my stock 98 A4. But I wouldn't mind fooling around and getting some times in. Never been down a track before. |
$200/head and you can get in as many passes as youd like from 8 or 9am til 5pm. Lots of fun and really good guys (no track snobs)
There are some 9 sec cars and some 13 sec cars. Run whatcha brung  Usually get 10-15 cars and its a laid back place to dial in your new mods, or just see what your car can do and have fun. Shoot me a pm if you want the coordinators info. Scott |
So I wouldn't feel too stupid among those guys? I am very close to ATCO, I've just never thought I had a fast enough car to take down the track. Sure would be cool to hang around some cars with real money in them though!

No pressure and a relaxed day is the best part. Plenty of guys there to give you a hand launching the automatic. I've never raced an auto, but will be happy to lend a hand where I can. I'll be trailering in with a generator and tools if you need anything along the way. I'd suggest bringing a couple extra quarts of oil, 5 gals of gas as backup (the pumps at the track are usually on for race fuel as well) some extra rags and tools are normally handy, but I've got most all you'll need for most issues. Scott |
Guess I'd better start giving the car a once over, I'm getting excited!
Thanks for helping out a No0b. :D I'll be in touch. |
Yeah man :yesnod:

Is one heating tray with 4 sterno cans enough to keep the good warm?
The trays are the 12" X 18" ones normally used in buffets. Scott |
That should be fine. I'll be smoking 10 racks of back ribs, but they should stack nicely all cut up. I'll bring them in trays that should drop right in to your buffet. What can we do for water for the bottom tray??
|
I'll bring the water.
Feckin' better not rain on us..... Scott |

I had a great time, and popped my cherry among the best!
I ended up doing several 12.9x @ 107.XX with my meager A4 Vert w/ stock 2:73's, a Vararam, Borla X-pipe into B&B Bullets, and a Jet Performance Stage II Module. All on Runcraps @ 25 psi, and almost at the wear marks. Surprisingly, I wasn't slipping with them, so now it's time for more power! By next year I'd like to ditch the Module for an ECS tune, after getting 3:42's, Longtube headers, Z06 or Fast intake, and maybe a stall converter. It would be nice to get in the elevens next time. Scott thanks for telling me about this event, and I'm very sorry for your bad luck. I hope you get it straightened out quickly. |
